Allen's stats aren't stellar. He's clearly lost the net, in the future, in Montreal with Montembault and Primeau positioned to take the reins moving forward.

The Canadiens are a rebuilding group who battle through some nights of inconsistent detail defensively. The result is the goaltenders being tasked with more than their share of high danger shots against. Allen's save percentage hovers around .900. His GAA is not sparkling ... but has to be put into context with how the group in front of him plays.
Good size. Butterfly. Tracks pretty well from side to side. Has some issues, occasionally, when play works from low to high and pucks are directed on net through traffic. Better than average low net coverage. Sits tall in his butterfly. Excellent blocker hand. Veteran goalie under contract till end of 24/25.

Individual stats don't jump off the page as positive from (22/23) - but come with the understanding the team in front of him is young and give up more Grade A chances than teams with more experience .Good size - butterfly - generally sound rebound control - lateral tracking (when play is in front of him) is sound - has some difficulty finding pucks below the goal line / tracking plays working low to high - Competes - no easy nights in the Montreal net as the team goes through rebuild - average plus glove hand - has an excellent blocker hand / quick to take away upper portion of the net - has struggled with injury for stretches - 42GP - 3.55 GAA - .891% in (22/23) - two more years left on current contract - $3.85M AAV
