After a slow start to his KHL season that resulted in him being a healthy scratch playing for SKA he was loaned back to HC Sochi and his game has come back to life
Over his last ten game segment Michkov has played to his offensive identity - scoring 3G-4A He's averaging 16:30 TOI and being deployed at ES and PP#1
His off the puck detail will have to continue to improve and be more consistent - late offensive zone exits for example - and his skating will definitely need to go to another level as he matures. He's a capable skater at the KHL level but the NHL is much quicker. Overall, however he has started to regain his confidence and play to his offensive identity. Positive progress.

Michkov dressed at the MHL, VHL, and KHL levels this season in Russia. He produced offense at every stop. More impressive was the fact he wasn't distracted by the fact he played in three different leagues, with three different teams.
Michkov is elusive. He plays quick and fast. He's a threat off the rush, has a great stick, and makes plays in a phone booth. He's a potential difference maker offensively. Although he's not tall in stature, he's sturdy and rarely gets pushed off the play. There were times he was used in all situations but he leans top line scoring forward who will create on the top PP unit in NHL.

Some new trends have started to evolve with his game
At the U20 level he is the Captain of the team and being used in all situations
Although not a proficient penalty killer he is showing he has the sense to get to space and interrupt plays before they materialize. Playing with SKA his minutes range from nearly non-existant to just under 8:00 avg TOI . There are no issues with his pace playing against men.
He is used at ES and the PP. His offensive element continues to impress. Elite skill.

A dynamic offensive player who is a threat at ES / PP / 3vs3 / 4vs4 / Shootout
The kind of player who wants the puck on his stick in big moments and delivers results more often than not. His offensive zone instincts and awareness are skill attributes that speak to his hockey IQ. A solid skater. Quick to space. He can attack off the rush and beat defenders 1vs1 on his own. Not big but does display leverage along the wall and ability to extend plays in battles. Defensive zone detail will improve in time as he matures. Top line NHL upside.
