Oskar Pettersson Scouting Reports

The Senators drafted the 6'2 198lbs, right shot, winger in the second round (72nd) in 2022. He's best described as a '2-way' forward who can occasionally provide some secondary offense. Pettersson is an average skater who competes hard up and down the ice. There's not a ton of flash to his game. He's involved in traffic and battles to extend plays along the wall. Expect Pettersson to slot into a depth role for Team Sweden. His primary ice time will come at even strength and the penalty kill.

Leans depth forward who will contribute some secondary scoring on occasion at the pro level
Net front on the PP. Stations himself around the crease - takes away eyes of goaltender - battles for positioning. He's a distraction from the hash marks down in the offensive zone.
Not a naturally gifted player with the puck on his stick. More of a chip and chase / net drive / extend plays along the boards. Smart in all three zones. Has the brain to be used on the penalty kill. Active stick. Rotates. Uses his reach. Willing to block shots. Skating isn't pretty at times and will have to continue to improve as he matures. Solid team guy. Knows his limitations. Competes

Off the rush he is more of a chip and chase option. Skating has room for improvement.
Competes. Uses his frame in hard areas. Plays to an identity. A complimentary player with some secondary scoring ability but it won't be pretty. He cleans up rebounds / tips pucks / etc.
