Pavel Mintyukov Scouting Reports

Since coming to North America (at the start of the 21/22 season) his entire game has gone to another level.
Mintyukov has always displayed an offensive element. He's a play maker who has the ability to walk the blue line to open up shooting lanes / or move pucks through seams to create scoring chances. He can also be a threat off the rush / transition the play on his own. He's creative.
What has impressed most, however, is how much more aware he is defensively. His routes defending his zone are much more accurate and better timed. His long reach is an asset. He's more physically engaged.
He's more than a transitional / PP QB. He's already trending as a reliable 'all situations' defenceman as a rookie at the NHL level.
Through 14GP he's averaging 19:00 TOI - 15:09 ES - 3:17 PP - 0:33 PK
Directed 24 SOG and scored 1G - 9A
He's been credited with 24 hits and 18 shot blocks

Defending detail has improved measurably. Better reads / reacts / contain. Uses his range to his advantage when taking away time and space
Offensively he is equal parts shooter and distributor. He QB's the first PP unit and shows deception walking the blue line Pinches down to extend plays. Added layer off the rush. Trending up.

A competitive player who is being used in all situations at the OHL level.
Produces offense at even strength and the PP. Outlets well. Passes the puck hard and accurately. In the offensive zone he has the ability to walk the blue line and make plays. He will pinch down to keep pucks alive. He has pace to lead the rush or come late as an added layer. Shoots the puck hard and accurately. His detail on the defensive side has a long way to go. He's a busy defender who needs to identify and contain better in his zone.
