a REALISTIC leafs fans takes on marner trades
No way the leafs retain 50% on marner. They need that cap space to further upgrade the roster after moving him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mvp13</b></div><div>This trade obviously doesn't happen, but that description was just hilarious... you are dumping Marner, a guy who has been well over a point per game for you for years, for someone who "might be able to get to 80 points"?
I know this sucks for Leafs fans, but there's gotta be more thought put into these things, eh?</div></div>
Marners routinely fallen apart in the playoffs and adding a 40 point 2 way top pair D and getting a very good 70 point paced 2RW for the same price would be a very good trade for the leafs and the flyers get an elite winger to help them in all situations. In reality I don’t the Philly is ready to make a deal like this

Doing All 32 Teams Realistic Offseasons Knights
A marner for Theodore trade would be absolutely wild. It’s the only realistic way I could see VGK make it work though. I don’t think the leafs would accept pietrangelo with his age

Next year
Honestly think Tampa should just dump Jeannot. Gave up a ton for him but he’s not worth close to 2.7 playing on the 4th line and for a cap strapped team it really might be worth it

Yeah, it absolutely would be a huge risk but if it paid off that forward core is absolutely ridiculous

Toronto is gonna get a guy like Sean Walker in FA is my assumption

He did. I was listening to a podcast with a former scout and he played C on nashvilles AHL affiliate. It’s certainly risky but I think that’s probably what we end up doing

Fitting the new guys in
Sadly with the possibility we have to move somebody Lehkonen makes more sense than moving another defenseman as walkers gonna be more expensive than 3 mil. Maybe they move Manson to keep Walker if he plays great for us

He’s not a worse player than dowd what are you talking about. Hes a middle 6 center and acquired with that role in mind Dowd would be acquired as a 4th line shutdown center with minimal play driving ability

I think as the avs 2C 20-45 will be our hope for him and that seems very much in reach with the very possible Avs bump incoming

Yeah Guentzel is way more of an unnecessary luxury but dowd at 650k would be a very big add to make a shutdown 4th line and add a PKer that can win a faceoff

If we're done making moves i'd call the ryjo move a loss for sure, we have more than enough cap to keep ryjo and bring in walker with something outside the first. SO hopefully we fill that cap space with another big fish but if we don't i don't see the point of the deal.</div></div>
That 5 mil in cap space can be used to add another impact player though. I think we are really going for it this year. Guentzel and dowd would make this forward for completely ridiculous

What? We didn’t trade our 1st for nothing we got Sean walker who this season has been a better player than byram and dumped a contract that likely costs us a 2nd rounder to dump anyway
