<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>I agree and disagree Kerfoot doesn't solve the top 6 problem in Calgary. Is Kerfoot a 60-80 point guy? No. And ideally that is what the Flames would love to land.

However, Kerfoot is a 40-50 point guy who plays 200 feet rather well. When you look at the Flames roster as it sits, adding Kerfoot creates a lineup that is "scoring by committee" - meaning they could literally roll 4 lines that should produce, with a 1st line driving offense (albeit not how it did last year).

Beyond that first line, all 3 lines have a series of players that should net 40 points (Magniapane one hopes 50). With Kerfoot the lines look something like this:

Huberdeau-Peterson-Tofolli

Kerfoot-Backlund-Magniapane

Pelletier/Coleman-Ruziska/Monohan-Dube/Coleman

Lucic-Rooney/Ruziska-Dube/Coleman

When looking at what that construct with Kerfoot, a several things jump out as positives:

1. Tonnes of lineup flexibility (mix and match)

2. Lines 2-4 can play 200 feet (Sutter should love this)

3. Lines 2-3 will not doubt provide secondary scoring, the third on a highly level than most 3rd lines in the NHL.

4. The fourth line would have 2 30 point players, meaning excellent tertiary scoring (in fact we could argue possible 3rd line production)

5. Beacsue the scoring would be and should be so balanced, Flames can really manage workload management all year long (barring long term injurires), which means......

6. A rested and game ready forward core for playoff hockey.

So, where Kerfoot may not be the "ideal" option for the Flames, what he can do for the lineup is huge.

A case of the sum is greater than the parts.</div></div>
