Ottawa effectively gave up a top player in Turris a top prospect and a first and third round pick to get duchene. I think Johnson value > Duchene </div></div>

The money is there for Tavares. It is going to be up to Tavares if he wants to stay in NY or play for a big market contending team with top fan support

I would think a possible trade would be Pulock for Trouba. Add in Hickey cuz maybe Winnipeg needs an experienced LD due to Enstrom injury. Maybe some picks are exchanged. Contract dollars are about the same.

Islanders say no... not sure how mtl would win games with Montoya and Lindgren in net...I think mtl needs to be somewhat patient. Price needs to get his game going. Benn is overrated and needs to be like a 7th D. Not sure why MB did not take a chance on Yakapov to play with Galchenyuk. Worked well in junior. Can’t be any worse than a lot of others on the team.

This is likely the lineup for next season. I think Barzal, Dal Colle, Hosang need to be playing top line minutes in AHL. They provide depth and can be called up due to injury. On the other hand; if isles flop in the first half again then I would make those trades as well and give the youth the NHL experience for next year.

I am not sold on duchene. I like zetterberg. Need playoff warriors.
If the goal is to win the cup, which I doubt is possible this coming season, then plan to get the pieces that they need ie. Subban or Doughty and Carey Price or Equivalent.

Varlemov is risky but he needs a change of scenery and can give above average goaltending. Halak/Griess combo is average to slightly above average goaltending.
Markov gives veteran leadership in a bottom six role.
Moving forward Pulock replaces Seidenberg. Pelech replaces Markov in bottom six role. Tavares and Bailey are resigned and Kuliman and Chimera are not. They are replaced with Dal Colle and Hosang.

I think you are under valuing dehaan, Nelson and are overvaluing duchene.
Agree... hamonic has to go via vegas or trade
Mcilrath, Boyle, gionto... I disagree... isles don't need any of these guys
