The Bruins could've had him, but oh no, you just had to give up a pick for Zac ****ing Rinaldo...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady37</b></div><div>Are you sure only season games count toward this?
In 2014-15, Sam Bennett was called up after his junior team was eliminated and played 1 season game and 11 playoff games for the Flames, the 1st year of his ELC was burned.
Maybe playoff games will also count toward making him available for the expansion, that is , if Habs make them</div></div>
It's 11 games. Playoff games count as well. However, Habs aren't going to make the playoffs, so it doesn't matter.

Boston Bruins signed Zdeno Chara (1 Year / $3,750,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>almost 4 mil cap hit lots of people thought he was coming back at 2 million.
I honestly don't even think it's a good signing. He's so slow at this point and the offense suffers from him not being able to jump into the play. So many boston fans talk about all the youth they have in the defense. This just shows that they either don't have that much talent in the youth or they don't trust it.</div></div>
You do know come playoff time the refs allow the slow big monsterous pylons like Chara to dominate the game with clutch and grab, hack and whack cheap shots.

(OTT/VGK) - Stone for Brännström, Lindberg, 2nd round.
I don't see how anyone thinks Ottawa won this.
You look at the return for MD and then this. They didn't even get a 1st.
Brannstrom, ok, maybe he develops into something. But he's yet to lace up in the NHL. So you don't really know what you even have yet. There are scores of players who looked good at the AHL level and equated to all of 0 in the NHL.
My honest opinion is they held on way too long. They got pressed to the deadline and left assets on the table. I think they could have done better.

(VAN/PIT) - Gudbranson for Pearson
I think Pittsburgh wins because Tanner was doing nothing for us. Gudbranson could improve greatly with the influence of Gonchar because the skills that Serg has Gudbranson needs. This is the key element and Pittsburgh had to add a D man.

(LAK/WSH) - Hagelin for 2019 3rd and 2020 conditional 6th round pick
Horrible trade for washington. Hags can't score. He's useless with the puck. There is no upside to his game, which is why the penguins dumped him.
Any hopes that he will score with washington is laughable. He couldn't score with Malkin and Kessel as line mates, there is no way he scores here.
He gets great opportunities but 0 ability to finish.
One expensive 4th liner.

The cap hit is fine for an 8 year deal. For a 5 year deal this is a joke! Rejoice anti-leafs nation!

By the time Matthews is UFA, the Coyotes will probably be playing in Houston anyways</div></div>
33+ Million in 3 players. At the cap with no defense. I wish you luck in bringing the cup back to Canada.

New Jersey Devils signed Miles Wood (4 Years / $2,750,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>Almost everyone on this site agrees that the Wilson deal was ridiculous. He was rewarded for winning the Cup! It's hard to speculate, but Wood probably would've doubled Wilson's offensive production had he played on the Devil's top line ;last season.</div></div>
Wilson got paid because he's 6'4 and like 230lbs and willing to go on the ice and intentionally hurt other players changing the "pace" of the game. Period.

Finally some good news out of Kanata. I think he's pretty much a lock to be playing in the NHL this season. I would imagine that both Tkachuk and Brown start on the third line together with Ryan, Boedker or White.

Toronto lacks team toughness, they just traded their toughest player. Toronto might have the deepest forward groups in the NHL but I suspect teams will be taking runs at them all season.
