The Lucic return was great, and the Beleskey signing was a good one, as well. Lets all be honest, when he traded Reilly Smith AND Marc Savard's contract (something people seem to forget), very few people were harping at that move. Smith was a slug here, who (when he was not scoring) was absolutely useless. Hindsight is always 20/20 but if you were actually against that move in the first place, then you were one of the few B's fans who was. On the Rinaldo trade? Sucked, but it was nothing more than a 3rd rounder. JML and Stempniak were decent moves in theory that didn't pan out. Hamilton trade is an incomplete, but DH struggled in Calgary and DS killed it with the picks we acquired for him. Just because you don't agree with his moves, doesn't mean he sucks. Give it time. 1 year is not a enough time to make a fair assumption on him.</i></div></div>Lucics return is mediocre, a mid 1st plus 29 and mid round selected prospect is not great imo. Belesky signing was bad, you don't pay 3.8M for a guy who will top out at 40 points. Smith trade was garbage, keepimg Savard and Smith would have kept us from Belesky. Rinaldo sucks, theres no 4th liner in the league I'd trade a 3rd for and hes one of the worst. The deadline deals were awful. I need you to look up the quote Sweeny said abot keeping Loui as our rental. He would have gotten us a 2nd and B prospect atleast. We basically traded 2x 2nds 2x 3rds (the prospect we traded was selected in the 3rd) 1x 4 1x 5 and a B prospect to miss the playoffs. I'm sorry, but you are the biggest opptimist if you think he hasn't been the 30th best GM since he took over. Don't forget he selected Debrusk and Senyshen over the consensus 2 next best players; Matthew Barzal and Kyle Connor.</i></div></div>

The Lucic return was great. Saying it wasn't shows that you're being just as much a pessimist as you claim I'm being an optimist (which I'm not. I don't hold out much hope for this season, but I'm not going to sink Sweeney for one full year where, whether you want to admit it or not, had his good moments). Getting (essentially) 2 firsts (one of which turned into a very good defensive prospect in Zboril, the 2nd first is unknown at this time), a potential bottom 6 forward in Kuraly, and a defenseman with top 4 upside in Colin Miller for a PENDING UFA is a solid deal, no matter how you slice it. Especially seeing what Lucic will ultimately get on the open market (he won't be nearly worth it).

Beleskey was thought to get over 4 million a year on the market. He took LESS money to come here than what he got offered in Anaheim. 3,8 million will not break the bank when the cap should continue to go up throughout the contract. For the game MB brings, he's worth the money. He can play all over the lineup in different roles, will give you the 35-40 points, and will bring it every night 100% with hard physical play (something the Bruins desperately need). His contract is also very movable if need be, but the Bruins shouldn't look to move him, b/c he's worth the contract.

Revisionist history. Just because Reilly Smith had a good season doesn't mean the trade was bad. Getting rid of the Savard contract was a smart move. There was no need to carry that contract, which would just take up space on the cap. Jimmy Hayes was brought in with some upside. He didn't pan out. That happens, but there wasn't a person in Boston unhappy that Reilly Smith was being moved. He was useless his final season in Boston. If you can't admit that, then you didn't watch much.

Yup Rinaldo sucks, no way around that trade. It was a total loss, but go look up the percentage of how many 3rd round picks actually pan out. It's around 30% of that player playing 100 games.

On the deadline, it was a fail. I wanted Eriksson traded for a similar package that Ladd brought in, but the Bruins decided to go for it and it backfired. They, unfortunately, were in it at the time, I believe coming off huge wins against teams like Pittsburgh and Chicago, and the collapse was more on the players/coaches than it was on Sweeney. On what we gave up. We gave up a 2nd and 4th for Stempniak and a 3rd, 5th, and Camara for JML. We still have 7 picks this draft coming up (barring a trade). There's 7 rounds in the draft. I believe we have 5 in the next draft, but players can easily moved to add more picks if need be. Let's be real, Anthony Camara will be lucky to ever play more than 50 games in the NHL. He doesn't have it, the skating was not there, and he was nothing more than a throw-in. He's not a "B prospect" by any stretch. He was a gamble pick by Chiarelli at the time, and they hoped he was going to pull a "Lucic".

The 30th best GM in the league currently goes to Benning of Vancouver. Shocker, another Chiarelli protege.

Hindsight is 20/20. The Bruins selected 3 good players in the first round, and absolutely killed it in the 2nd with those 3 picks. Funny, Sensyhyn and DeBrusk both had very good seasons, but everyone is quick to judge Sweeney for passing on Barzal and Connor. You do know these players go through interviews with the teams, right? There is speculation that Connor showed himself poorly in the interview with Boston, as if to say he didn't want to be drafted by them. Did you want them wasting a pick on a player that could pull a Jimmy Vesey, and walk? That would really suck with a 1st round pick (at least Vesey was a 3rd). My point is that there is more to picking a player than stats. Team need, looking for a certain style of player, etc. is all taken into account. The Bruins drafted players who have size, skill, and play hard. Exactly what they need to get back to. Also, word on the inner circle is that Senyshyn was going earlier than expected (I've heard as early as #19 to Detroit). He was going to be drafted in the 1st round, nonetheless. Teams behind the Bruins liked him a lot. The Bruins knew this, and with them liking the player, they took him, and I'm very happy with that. I love his game, and think he has legit upside. Same with DeBrusk, he was going in the 20's.

Why did you leave out the Hamilton trade? No mention of that, and it seems that's the one that gets the biggest harp, though grabbing Senyshyn, Forsbacka-Karlsson, and Lauzon has the chance to pay huge dividends for them. All three have legit NHL potential, and at worst could be used to land the Bruins a legit player in trade. I think they'll hang onto them though, Bruins organization like all 3 a lot and rightfully so.</i></div></div>I forgot the Hamilton trade ;( If we had Hamilton and Lucic we could still be playing. Instead we have poor mans Lucic (Belesky) and poor mans Hamilton (Miller). You need to face the fact that we've been in purgatory the last 2 years. IMO finishing 9th in your conference is the last place you want to end up. You don't get a Franchise player at 14 unless he becomes one 2 3 years away, which doesn't help now us. Sweeny is doing all the same stuff Chiarelli got fired for, how can you not see that?
