<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Theo_nollaf</b></div><div>Out of curiosity, don't you think that Boston would be better off spending down the middle? I understand that Poitras, Zacha, and Coyle, are all levels of good, but Boston still has a clear need for a top-line center. Does Guentzel (I've also seen Meier) really help you improve as a roster when you have middle-six guys centering him? I think that that has been Boston's biggest flaw over the past few years when they have struggled to win in the playoffs.</div></div>
definitely agree, the glairing need is for a true top line center. just not sure at the moment they have trade chips for it and there is no one on the UFA market that would fill the void, so the possible pivot is to get some higher scoring wingers to make up the offence and hope the centers (Zacha/Coyle) can maintain in and around their production from this year.

I generally figure wherever Ullmark ends up an extension will either have been pre agreed upon or will be agreed upon before the season starts. so he wouldn't just be a rental.

i don't disagree with you, i think lindholm is a great 2nd line center and probably not a first line center but his ceiling offensively is probably higher than Coyles so i could see them taking a run at this. unless you can somehow work a top line center into a trade involving ullmark.

Cup1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>Eh I wouldn't say a bust just yet, probably one of the most oft injured draft picks of his 1st round class. He has only played 30 something NHL games (20 of which were this season, where he looks like an NHLer), it is thought him and Akil Thomas should have much more of a shot next season.
But I agree his value is pretty low so it's basically a throw in.
For LA though, I think they are out on Ullmark, the Kings are apparently upset at the Bruins for leaking the trade and Ullmark has shown he doesn't want to play in LA. Not sure the Kings brass want to bend over backwards for an organization and a player who don't play ball.</div></div>
I think Ullmark nixed the trade to LA because he didn't want to be away from his family for months mid season while things got sorted out. with a possible extension and security in place he would probably consider LA or the west coast as long as he can get the guarantees he can move his family out there and settle for the next X amount of years.

they are right around the cap, with a 23 man roster. not 20, you have zero ability for anyone to get hurt or sick. healthy scratches still count against the cap.

not sure if the debrusk deal is 5.5 but probably in that area depending on the term. Devils are not giving their 2024 1st for Ullmark.

Bs wont resign JVR for 2.5M they probably don't resign him at all. they may allocate 1.5-2M to Heinen. but you could drop JVR and Duclair and just resign Debrusk. wedgewood probably doesn't get signed as they'll likely use Bussi who would have to pass through waivers next season I believe. so you can use the difference there to sign a 4th line guy like Liam O'Brien or bring back Boqvist.

I don't see the Bruins taking Forsberg back at that cap hit unless they have a plan to move Bussi in another trade and think they can't sign Lindholm or another impact dman.

Ullmark waives for security
I am more of the belief Ullmark blocked the TDL move to LA because he didn't want to be away from his family for months at a time with no certainty of the future. I think he'd be more open to moving to the west coast to a good team if he had the chance to put an extension in place. A deal like this may not come to fruition until after the draft and free agency starts.

Gryz is the only one i could see with a slim chance of coming back and i doubt it's at 3M and if anyone pays JVR and Maroon those prices i don't think it's the Bruins. they would keep Heinen before those guys.

took more of the bridge approach which may reduce the AAV a bit. if he goes 6,7,8 years it'll be closer to the 7/8M i would imagine.

reports seem to indicate he values staying on the east coast so the leafs may not be on his NTC list so he may not have a choice in the matter. i doubt the Bs trade him within the Atlantic but who knows. with Hanifin off the market they could use Ullmark as a trade chip to try and fill the spot on defence.

Agreed, i just figure they'll want to probably ease Lysell into the NHL and top 6 might be a lot for him and for some reason i don't see them putting Poitras and Lysell on a line together. not saying they shouldn't just doesn't seem to be Montys MO. I think Poitras needs to really pop in camp or they could send him to Providence for the start of the year to get reps and up to speed and then try and get him back in the lineup.

Lindholm Prove It Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>Miller was not playing to his level last year. He was not a plus defender after a career of being one. Hai defensive efficiency metrics were in the bottom third, which is an absolute anomaly, fans were openly talking about sending him to Pittsburgh despite his history
Using the point per game status was how fans of other teams discounted Patrice Bergeron. Outside of this year, Lindholm has been a very good two way center whose advanced stats were extremely good,
He’s struggled this year. 100% acknowledged. If he would have been acquired in free agency last offseason, the deal would have been lauded and he would have been viewed as the missing piece. It’s one year.
What you or I think is irrelevant. It’s what Sweeney thinks which matters. I will say that Don tends to focus on his own evaluations rather than fit within their previous system. It’s one of the reasons I believe Lindholm is more likely than not at this point. Things change. See Hanifin.</div></div>
all good points, I just hope he doesn't feel a pressure to sign Lindholm to address the C position. he's absolutely nailed some offseason signings but also made some mistakes, i think Lindholm would fit and has a similar style to what would compliment the group but as you said things change and FA is still aways away.

Lindholm Prove It Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>The real question is whether this year is a blip like JT Miller last year or if it is a sign of decline. Last year, cap friendly was all about how JT was an albatross and he returned to form.
We have one of the best GM’s in the league whose latest moves have pretty much all been very good. I trust his judgment.
I do think we have the opportunity to bring in a star player and before this year, Lindholm would have been most people’s top choice. One bad year doesn’t disqualify years of very good two way play, but it probably warrants some understandable pause.
Things change, but Sweeney has been trying to acquire him. And Friedman reported one of the reasons that Vancouver beat out Boston was Sweeney wanted to lock him in long term before giving up limited assets. He also reported that they would be in line if he made it to free agency. I believe Boston will be at the front of the line.
There are other forward options if you believe Zacha is a center. He’s certainly been playing well since the trade deadline</div></div>
MIller since coming over from Tampa has been a point a game player, Lindholm on the other hand hasn't always been to that level. and not that they need to be offensive juggernauts but Lindholm best years came with some pretty high end wingers but is pretty average without them. i think he's a fine player but for me my concern is the age of the player and the length of contract we're going to give out to him.

just feeding off of other postings. i removed the pick swap. i don't think he's a pure dump i think it'll depend on if they want to keep Hanifin or not. they've never really cared about moving assets for any return they always just want to weaponize cap space.

if we keep most of the roster in tact well probably keep Ully
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>You could offer DeBrusk a million less than that and he'd still go for it.
You could also go with 2 scratches instead of 4 which frees up another 1.5 million.
And the cap is probably going up to 87.7 not 87 million. So that's another 700k right there.
Which leaves you with $4.9 million of cap space to add another player. And if you do get another player with that money that subtracts one player from the roster who will lose his spot to the new guy.
So after all that, you can spend another $5.7 million on a player even with Ullmark staying.</div></div>
ya for sure, the reason i'm carrying an extra scratch (4 instead of 3) is whether or not Boston elects to try and slide Bussi through waivers or not. i don't see them carrying three goalies but who knows. they may have extra money but it's where will they use it.. if you don't sign OEL you can take a run at Hanifin but then does that block Lorhei long term. I don't know if the value Elias Lindholm anymore over zacha and coyle so unless they can trade for a #1 center i suspect they may stay status quo for the season.
