Actually Realistic

Fine. Then we'll keep them. I don't share your assessment, though.
"Namestnikov did not produce ? Oh then he's worth nothing. Spooner did produce? Oh but he's bad in the defensive zone, so he's worth nothing."
Acknowledge the circumstances they were in: NYR were a dumpster fire, and Namestnikov had constantly different linemates, often playing in the 4th line. His transition game was one of the best in the NHL when he was in Tampa. Let's see what he does with a new coach.
If the price is not right, NYR can afford to wait on them to maximize return or not trade them at all.

Trades trades trades
Ask yourself: would you rather have 1 year of a great player on the decline or 7 years of an up-and-coming star like Borgstrom?
Would you rather have a good 3rd liner (Hudon) and an AHL player or a dynamic top4 defenseman with room to grow?

Draft Day (ARI, MIN, FLA, CBJ)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bloodykisame</b></div><div>yes I agree in most drafts their values are set but this years 1-9 are all elite potential and their placements are really all undecided and no favorites stick out other than boqvist in my eyes.</div></div>
In my mind, NYR trading up has a sole purpose: to draft either Hughes or Wahlstrom. If Rangers stay at 9, they'll have to settle for Dobson, Veleno, or if he falls, Boqvist.

Good point. I only considered that Minnesota is a pretty good team and they're in cap hell; not that a new regime may want to retool.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bloodykisame</b></div><div>namestikov can fetch a mid 1st rounder and probs a 3rd, that is a heavy overpay for moving up 4 spots in the draft maybe if that was boston/tb and a 3rd for the 5th pick it would be acceptable but not the 9th and another 1st.</div></div>
If you are interested, a sports analyst created in 2016 a draft pick value chart. The late 1st +3rd make up the difference (and a very slight overpayment) between 5th and 9th. The player you get at 5 is much better (probably) than what you get at 9th (hence the difference in value). This is the link:

Sorry but no. The player picked in the 7th spot will likely be better than Lias, but only marginally; and Lias is one year older, so he is one year closer. I would do Lias + lesser prospect or mid pick at most for your pick.

I guess I will, when you run him out of town like Subban or shortly Pacioretty.

Namestnikov was playing LW in Tampa and he would therefore end up in the same messy situation that we put Drouin and Chucky in as LW forced to play center.
I'd ask Rangers for our 3rd: Skej, Chytil + #9th.</div></div>
And then the Rangers would hang up and laugh.

There's no way Stars trade both Benn and Seguin and don't ask for at least one of Pastrnak or McAvoy. But it's an interesting idea. Gotta up that avg rating.
There's no way Arizona makes that trade, also.

NYR Fans what do you think??
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheBoyDuddus</b></div><div>Dahlen's been in Vancouver for over a year. And I don't like the chances of Dorion giving up a top tier prospect for a middle 6 forward like Spooner.</div></div>
Woooops at Dahlen. I guess I never processed that trade. While he and Brown are clear cut top tier prospects, is Formenton too? I don't see it (he was exactly PPG in the OHL in his D+1 season, which is pretty good but not great). And while you may see all of them becoming better than Spooner, hockey players who are in their peak now are worth more than a player who, in his peak, will have his same ability but is a few years away. That's why you pay interest if you take a credit. That is to say, readiness is at a premium over potential.
So even though Spooner is not worth Brown, I don't think he is far from Formenton.

Sorry but this is not happening. While it is true that NYR are open to trading Spooner and need RHD, Ceci is grossly overrated. James Dolan (NYR owner) has just said (today!) that the team is fully invested into analytics, and they don't paint a pretty picture of Ceci. I'd take Formenton / Dahlen / Logan Brown though.

You're right, but there's no certainty that he will. As long as that stays the same, Hayden is not worth adding Hossa's contract.

Realistic Klefbom Trade?
I wouldn't accept that trade. Edmonton wants to add defensemen, not forwards, and Anisimov is not valuable enough to be the main piece (quality > quantity). I'd actually argue that the 2nd rounder is more valuable than he is. That said, EDM's GM is still Chiarelli.

NYR: No. Taking Russell should be enough to jump from 25 to 10. Take DeAngelo and the third out and it's a deal. But good proposal.

Realistic Instant Contenders *FEEDBACK PLZ*
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>hailmcjesus</b></div><div>I took out the Lucic trade. What do you think now?</div></div>
WSH deal is fair, CGY probably says no (not for a lack of value sent, but because they won't take on Russell's contract). But looking at the bigger picture, I'm not sure this is the best way forward for EDM. While this is a playoff team, you are miles away from teams like WPG or NSH. I think you'd be better off figuring out what you have in these prospects you are sending away – Connor is only 21, you're not in a hurry to win.

The first two deals are fine (although I don't think CGY takes on Russell). However, the third is a mess... With Benson + 3rd you don't have enough for Goldobin, nevermind adding Lucic. You can't do that and advertise realism.
