I agree COL could use some insurance at that position but that doesn't mean they are going to grossly overpay for one. Bernier and Reimer could be had for significantly cheaper than this</div></div>
Both of those guys situations are a little sticky. Bernier is a little hurt still and I’m not sure what Carolina is going to do. I think Korpi is a better goalie than the stats are currently showing. The defense hasn’t been much help the last 2 year IMO.

Isles 2020-21 - TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>slapshot723</b></div><div>I honestly thought this was good value. You're getting a young replacement for Foligno and a 3rd round pick. I thought a swap of Aho and Carlsson made some sense too. Carlsson was waived earlier this year we could use more guys like him. Aho has looked decent in his few NHL games this year and could get more of an opportunity with CBJ. If you'd rather give us MDZ than Carlsson I'm on board.
What would be better value for Foligno?</div></div>
I'm fine with the pick and one of those prospects for Foligno. Not sure we can give up Carlsson with Savard heading out the door. He could easily be his replacement. I also think Aho and Bellows don't have much value. Definitely not a good player swap IMO.

Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tylerstenson</b></div><div>elite goalscorer who hasn't proved anything under the CBJ system. Don't think he works out there in the long-run</div></div>
That's because they are trying to turn him into a 200 foot player. He also doesn't have a center to play with. That is the major issue.

Laine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tylerstenson</b></div><div>hindsight doesnt mean anything. Laine hasn't performed under Torts, and at this point, it's not looking like the deal will work out. Cut your losses, take a player that will work hard under torts (podkolzin), and hope that the canucks suck again next year and get a top 15 pick</div></div>
Huh? Or make a better trade or don't rehire Torts. How do you know Podkolzin will work harder? Why take all these risks? Laine is a 40 goal scorer who is 22 years old. He's a RFA. We don't have to cut any losses we just need to make the right deal. Not just give him away.

Grigerenko and Gavrikov say hi. Also don't forget Bob chose to stay here until he was 30.</div></div>
Sure but Bob and Grigerenko were almost out of a job at one point. We've had more problems than I'd like. I can't say I'm happy with last years draft pick. I just see it as a risk. This is not a good trade. 1 unknown prospect and a 1st rounder for a elite goal scorer is not a good trade.

This is a terrible trade. A guy who can't play, a KHL player, and a 1st rounder...........then we give them a 3rd rounder. Remember we gave up a 1C PLD.

LAINE this woudlnt be possible because of the cap but lets have some fun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>3 points out of playoffs, sure. You’re under.500 with a big negative GD. You’re team is full of Meh players that only get you into playoffs from work ethic. You don’t have a proper supporting cast to help Laine hit 40G. Sure, swap Jones in. I know he is a RFA but most feel he won’t want to stay there which is why the idea has come up. How many times has he been benched now? 3? The way I see it you should fill more holes with youth and then find some elite players to come and to be honest I think Bjorkstrand can hit 35-40G every year if he has someone better than Domi to play with</div></div>
This coming from a NYR fan is hilarious. You are in the same boat...........but 4 point out of the playoff and lots of talent. It's not about the cast IMO it's about the coach right now. Torts is a tough guy to play for. They are trying to turn him into a 200 foot player not just a guy who stands at one spot. Not sure that's going to work out but that's what's happening you either need to watch more or read more. Being a RFA he doesn't have an option. He has to stay with us but we can always trade him this summer too if he doesn't want to sign. He still has great value. We have a good core with Jones, Werenski, Cam, Oliver,..........but we need a 1C. I think Laine could fit into that core but not with Torts around.
