-Why is a rebuilding Chicago team giving up an asset for a 30 year old, injury prone LHD in his walk year? They can either sign a veteran UFA this summer (Marc Staal, Nick Holden, or old friend Jack Johnson) or just acquire a cap dump veteran (Mike Reilly?) to fill that spot instead of giving up rebuild assets.

-I'm assuming Ville Husso is the presumed start until Sebastian Cossa is ready in Detroit. If they want a veteran 1B, there are plenty of options available in UFA that have put up better numbers than Allen (.891 SV%, 3.55 GAA, -1.9 GSAE). Cam Talbot (.900, 2.89, -0.9), Antti Raanta (.911, 2.20, +2.5), Anthony Stolarz (.897, 3.73, +0.9), and Alex Stalock (.911. 2.97, -0.5) are all guys that you could probably get for an AAV less than Allen's $3.875M without having to give up a pick that's projected to be #42 at this point in time.

-I don't see a spot for Anderson on the Blues top-9, and I don't see the sense in adding $2.225M in cap hit and moving back about 15-20 spots just to shed Scandella's cap. Mysak doesn't move the needle much, either - Blues easily pass on this one.

-I'd jump on this if I were Nashville - Hoffman has actually worked real hard on his two-way game this year and I have to applaud him for that. I think a contending team would be happy to get him at $2.25M for a year if it only cost a 4th - he's still a 40-45 point guy but now he's not a black hole on the defensive end.

-Probably fair value for PLD, but I always go back to the idea that it doesn't make a ton of sense to give up this much for Dubois if he's so dead-set on signing in Montreal anyways. The 8th year you can offer him really doesn't matter to me - if you sign him to a 7 year deal in UFA next summer, you're still going to have him through 2030-31, and I don't think adding PLD to this team makes the Habs a playoff contender in 2023-24. Wait the year and sign him for nothing more than the cost of the contract if you're so convinced he's coming home.

-I'd rather have Pitlick available in Laval than a 7th in next year's draft. Pitlick is a perfectly fine bottom-6 player, and if any team should be stockpiling NHL-caliber depth in case of injury, I would think it would be the Habs after all their injury woes this year. Pitlick in the AHL doesn't impact the cap at all, and he's a guy you can plug and play if anyone gets hurt or if any of the young guys don't perform well enough to stick.

-Devils do this if they feel like one of Schmid or Daws is ready to back up Vanecek (which I get the feeling they do.)
