Hawks obviously decline. Curious why you think getting back the two 5th's is enough?

It will take more than two future fifths to persuade Chicago to take Matt Murray off your hands.
Boeser isn't nearly as good as Nylander but his cap hit is almost as much, so why would your strategic plan be to exchange the two while giving up a large number of years of Liljegren for one season of Pesce?
You guys need O'Reilly and a filler more than you need Drouin and Puljujarvi.

LMAO at that Chicago trade; you can't be serious? Chicago takes on Dillon plus gives up the 44th pick to move up ONE spot in the first round? not a chance they even take on Dillon let alone add the 2nd round pick for 1 spot

I would not do that PIT trade, but indifferent on the VAN trade if we ended up with the PIT 1st.

The Buffalo trade
That trade is not good for BUF. Swapping JJP for Raddysh defeats the purpose of valuing the affordability of Raddysh, and BUF doesn't need the affordability to begin with. JJP is a very valuable young player. But, I could take or leave Olofsson. He is worth almost nothing to CHI, IMO. However, BUF does value him.

Tampa Bay definitely says no to that deal. They'd probably want TRad back at a minimum to make this deal.
And that seems like a steep price to pay to move up from #11 to #8. Seems to me the players projected to be available in that range are all pretty similar talent wise.

I wouldn't mind giving Lassi a look. If they could do something like this they could afford to focus on more forwards in the 2nd and 3rd round of the draft.

To me the crux isn't the WAS trade. Moving from #8 to #11 isn't that big a move in this draft. It's #1, #2, #3-#5...then pick your poison. The crux to me is the VAN trade. TMyers isn't a huge cap dump. VAN owes those bonuses on July 1st and then I tend to think a team like AZ will take him off their hands for free. Certainly, AZ isn't paying anything for TMyers, but it wouldn't be a hindrance.
TBL probably don't do that either. I think they could get more for Ross Colton. Don't get me wrong...I'm a buyer of Ross Colton, but I think we'd need to add more. With that said, I do believe he's available. Just 1 man's opinion, but if Stamkos gets heard by management....they're going to go for it which means keeping Killorn...not Ross Colton.

No interest from Chicago. I recently saw a COL post trading for Mantha. With Landy out all of next season maybe there's an opportunity for Mantha there.

why would Chicago move back in the draft for Mantha? Seems like a complete cap dump in my eyes with that production. Needs to be AT LEAST a second to Chicago and maybe nothing going back.

I think Chicago should try to move up into the that 10-15 range, but I would personally target Reinbacher. Man's going to be a stud, huge fan of his game.

I'm with ya on KD's approach. If I were KD I'd go talk to him and his parents. Truly talk about the Pros/Cons. This team still isn't good. Not a lot of protection for him. He's still 17 years old...going to a league that still has physical "goons"... might not be the best this for him. His skill sets is absolutely there to go to the NHL, but its all the other things. Be patient.

Hawks decline. Savard may or may not be a cap dump, but w/ Jones and Murphy, Hawks definitely don't need him - so he's a cap dump to the Hawks. And Armia is for sure a cap dump. A 2nd and a 4th ain't close to move out over 7m in cap hit for the next 2 years.

Ah yes, nothing like ruining a rebuild like bringing in Stauber/Soderblom/Commesso and never letting them develop WHILE trading away picks. HARD Pass from the Hawks. Rebuilds come from within. Zero chance this happens.

draft day and summer
Yeah...Hawks aren't trading a pick in the low 40's for Joel Edmunson and a pair of 5ths. The 5ths have a small chance of ever skating a shift in the NHL whereas a pick in the #42-45 range actually has a chance and Edmunson is well Edmunson and sort of the last thing a tanking team is going to be interested in.

draft day and summer
-Why is a rebuilding Chicago team giving up an asset for a 30 year old, injury prone LHD in his walk year? They can either sign a veteran UFA this summer (Marc Staal, Nick Holden, or old friend Jack Johnson) or just acquire a cap dump veteran (Mike Reilly?) to fill that spot instead of giving up rebuild assets.
-I'm assuming Ville Husso is the presumed start until Sebastian Cossa is ready in Detroit. If they want a veteran 1B, there are plenty of options available in UFA that have put up better numbers than Allen (.891 SV%, 3.55 GAA, -1.9 GSAE). Cam Talbot (.900, 2.89, -0.9), Antti Raanta (.911, 2.20, +2.5), Anthony Stolarz (.897, 3.73, +0.9), and Alex Stalock (.911. 2.97, -0.5) are all guys that you could probably get for an AAV less than Allen's $3.875M without having to give up a pick that's projected to be #42 at this point in time.
-I don't see a spot for Anderson on the Blues top-9, and I don't see the sense in adding $2.225M in cap hit and moving back about 15-20 spots just to shed Scandella's cap. Mysak doesn't move the needle much, either - Blues easily pass on this one.
-I'd jump on this if I were Nashville - Hoffman has actually worked real hard on his two-way game this year and I have to applaud him for that. I think a contending team would be happy to get him at $2.25M for a year if it only cost a 4th - he's still a 40-45 point guy but now he's not a black hole on the defensive end.
-Probably fair value for PLD, but I always go back to the idea that it doesn't make a ton of sense to give up this much for Dubois if he's so dead-set on signing in Montreal anyways. The 8th year you can offer him really doesn't matter to me - if you sign him to a 7 year deal in UFA next summer, you're still going to have him through 2030-31, and I don't think adding PLD to this team makes the Habs a playoff contender in 2023-24. Wait the year and sign him for nothing more than the cost of the contract if you're so convinced he's coming home.
-I'd rather have Pitlick available in Laval than a 7th in next year's draft. Pitlick is a perfectly fine bottom-6 player, and if any team should be stockpiling NHL-caliber depth in case of injury, I would think it would be the Habs after all their injury woes this year. Pitlick in the AHL doesn't impact the cap at all, and he's a guy you can plug and play if anyone gets hurt or if any of the young guys don't perform well enough to stick.
-Devils do this if they feel like one of Schmid or Daws is ready to back up Vanecek (which I get the feeling they do.)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CFMan</b></div><div>It would be nice to have a dedicate puck mover that isnt Caleb Jones. Seth is a slightly above average puck mover but more of a minutes eater defender. Murphy is all defense, Regula still needs another year in the A, and I agree that the Mitchell experiment is likely over. Zaitsev is pretty awful and is more helpful as dead cap with a buyout. By the time the Hawks are ready to be competitive in 5ish years, 1 vet will be north of 30 (Jones) and the other will most likely be gone or start to decline due to age (Murphy), Durzi would be entering his late 20s which is still his prime. We can sign X free agent when the time to compete come but its better to have a guy build himself up over the years from within our own system imo. But I appreciate the feedback, I will tinker more.</div></div>
For sure. I guess I just don't like the idea of acquiring any new NHL level, top 4 caliber, RHD unless one or both of Jones and Murphy are traded. Especially one whose defensive game is lacking so heavily. But I get the allure.

If Hawks sign Compher, the F group looks pretty spot on.
Can't see the Hawks taking on Peterson from LA without getting a pick back along with him. Just not how Davidson operates. And if Hawks did take a player instead of a pick, they'd want a F, not a D. And the return would be F/C, not a 4th. That trade isn't good for Hawks as proposed.
Hawks have Nolan Allen, Ethan DelMastro and Wyatt Kaiser turning pro next season. Those 3 are the left side in Rockford next year. No spot for Vlasic. He'll be in Chicago on 2nd or 3rd pair. Regula may be in Chicago as well on 3rd pair. He is no longer waiver exempt. Galvas and Roos still are waiver exempt and both can play on right side, so at least one of them probably start the year in Rockford. And while I don't agree w/ it, I also think Hawks sign Caleb Jones to another 1 year deal.

What I want for Turcotte at this point in his career is for him to get healthy.
Kings won't entertain selling Turcotte at his lowest value because of health issues (as opposed to if he just wasn't developing due to skill issues).
