Petry mock draft
The values are all off here.
Petry is a good player that should return a decent asset back but if the Habs are looking to move him, think something more along the lines of what Toronto paid for Muzzin (similar but not exactly) last year. The best asset of the deal will be a lottery protected 1st round pick, not a high end top prospect. Then add a couple lesser pieces to that in the form of B prospects and/or some additional later picks. Habs may have to retain some salary or take a not so big cap dump in return though but that shouldn't be a problem if they moving Petry's salary out.

Are you actually declining a Dobson for Suzuki deal from the MTL side ? Dobson is a legit top pairing D (he has more value than Suzuki !) NYI declines IMO (habs fan here)

That's fine. I literally said I wasn't sure i'd pay him the above offer either in my original comment. Just that I think its a decent offer.

Either way I don't believe these reports and frankly I think the team that finally ponies up for him won't regret it. He's still young and cheap and can score 20-30 goals quite easily if given the chance.</div></div>

First goal - he rushed the net and accepted a quick pass up front.
second goal - tips the shot after grinding in the corners - it hit the crossbar, then he pick-up his own rebound.
Third goal - great snipe
SO winning goal - great snipe.

I never said he was an A+ prospect - the consensus was A-. AM is a star, I'm saying that no B prospect gets 3g in his first game in the show... and they aren't garbage goal either.

Why? Giving FOUR firsts for Laine? Few players are worth that compensation. Laine is a phenomenal player, but is sort of one-dimensional. It would be worth looking at an offer sheet maybe at 5 years, where the AAV would be a little lower. Also, not sure why you would make the Blues trade. There is no need for another LD, especially since we got prospects like Romanov who will fill that role soon. Also, why is Mete on the 3rd pairing? Your lines are quite confusing as well, I’m not quite sure why Armia is on the first line. Why separate the Finnish line when you can slot in Jordan Weal who has played there last season or even Paul Byron.

Staying the course
If Poehling and Suzuki are not ready to play top 6 minutes in the NHL yet, they need to be developing with top line minutes in Laval. I don't want them stagnating on the fourth line with limited minutes.

Agreed all around .
i think he'll earn a spot in the Top 6 for Julien because he's a got a chip on his shoulder and pushes himself further then the next guy.
i love that he decided to put on 40lbs of muscle instead of lean out to become faster .
the reason i think this was smart is the style he plays up the middle is based on powering through.
he doesnt break in to the OZ he carries the puck in then dishes it off , gets set up infront of the net and battles .
KK is a gem but Poehlings had 2 years to put in the work in that time which stands to reason why he'd potentially pass KK for 2nd line status.
KK should develop as he is steadily at his own pace , we got no need to rush him at all .
Suzuki will also be gunning for a spot but i think he'll get last cut at camp and sent to the AHL even if he out plays a roster player to give MTL time to move out a player and get good value at TDL.(Sadly , i'd love to see all 3 in the opening roster )

Something we havent considered , what if Poehling leap frogs Kotkanemi?
he's put in the most work of any athlete in MTL that i can think of in the past 30 years.
he's told he's not strong enough, puts on 15lbs of muscle his first year , 25lbs his 2nd and grew an inch .
he's told he's not offensive enough , goes out and leads all his peers in scoring at WJC
he's told he's not fast enough , he works on his foot speed and Stamina this summer opting not to take time off .
he finds a weakness and attacks it . At 20 he's already made more progress then Galchenyuk his entire tenure here in that regard .
Kotkanemi's a stud but he came in much the same way opting not to take the summer off ,training and earning a opening roster spot . this summer Kotkanemi chose not to train taking time off and that could be just the edge Poehling needs to sneak into 2nd Center . (plus this also allows Kotkanemi to stay with his fellow Finn's )
