Pietrangelo Comes Home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>Except Holl isn't worth more than a 5th and Gaudette is already a better player than Kapanen (Kapanen also doesn't even make the Canucks top 6) plus he's a center. Also the Canucks don't need PP help considering theirs was 4th in the league</div></div>
Talk about over valuing your players. Gaudette is not even close to better than Kapanen. Kap has him in every category, and that is while playing third line minutes behind 2 great RW. Give him top 6 minutes and playing partners and he is a 25+ 60+ player that kills penalties, and plays a three zone game. Gaudette had a career high goals because he had a higher than usual shooting percentage. He lacks physicality, his possession numbers tell a scary tale and as a center with a 41% face off percentage. He would be best to find his way to the wing.
Only way Canucks laugh is all the way to the bank because they just stole Kappy. Only thing that gives Leafs any value in this deal is cap space. But it’s not worth it.

Kappy & Liljegren can be used to get a better fit than Subban.

I think the trades are fair value wise.
I don't think McCann is a center through. He's much better on the LW.

Johnsson stays
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Beetlejuice</b></div><div>Better off keeping Kapanen, Johnsson contract is really bad for toronto</div></div>
No it isn't. Johnsson is better than Kapanen. I would trade Kapanen 100% over Johnsson. Johnsson is better defensively as good offensively and isn't lazy. For some reason everyone loves Kap like he's going to become some sort of 40 goal scoring superstar. He isn't.

Johnsson stays
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>I’d like for this to become one of those challenge things where you tag the creator in your own post. The “Keep Johnsson” challenge would certainly be something, considering that 95% of Leafs ACGMs have him going.</div></div>
It's mainly due to the flat cap. Personally, Kap is the guy I would trade for sure this off season. For whatever reason everyone thinks he's close to Nylander and Johnsson is just some 3rd liner who makes too much. It's the opposite. Johnsson is good, he's fast, smart, can pass and shoot and is responsible. While Kap is fast and likes to pretend he has an appetite for the rough stuff, he doesn't and spends 80% of his ice then skating in big circles doing nothing at all.

Leafs 2021 Incorporating feedback from previous post
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredOfLondon</b></div><div>He brought over clifford for cheap depth to make up for the loss of Trevor more and because clifford is decent defensively for a 4th line guy.
Since being a leaf clifford has shown himself to be entirely replacable.
Even when he was at peak during the kings cup runs he was their least used player by a wide margine, both in the regular season and playoffs and even more drastically during important games</div></div>
Clifford is better than Moore. Moore literally was a 4th liner

No problem. I'll guess Dermott get 1 x 1 this offseason or 2 x 1.2. Anything above that only works on a long term deal and I'm not 100% sure I want to sign Dermott long term just yet.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapGuy</b></div><div>I agree. This deal is dependent on the value Clifford brings in the playoffs. If Dubas looks at Clifford as the final piece to get over the hurdle and he’s a good dressing room guy I’m ok to lose the 2nd. But if he just fills a regular 4th line role I’m ok to walk away. You don’t sign him for regular season, you sign him for the playoffs. I already like the impact he’s had on Kapanen’s physicality.</div></div>
Absolutely agree. Turned kappy into scrappy lol. Has a great attitude and work ethic. Playoffs will determine which direction we need to go in a few areas.

I agree completely but I don’t think the return is important. Engvall and Johnsson for futures, resign Clifford.

This works for me. Not a big fan of paying the 2nd to sign Clifford but it is certainly plausible.

Marner Gardiner
I suppose if you can't get Marner for 2 yrs at 8.5, you could drop Petan or another player to the minors and give Marner 9.5M for 2yrs?
