Trading Kadri
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzad96</b></div><div>Doesn't make sense for EDM unless they trade RNH does it?</div></div>
it could if they decide to put him on the wing. It would also allow them flexibility to put RNH with McDavid and Draisaitl in situations where they are trailing in games.

you could probably dump Callahan onto the Canucks or the Habs without having to retain.

I think they will have to make more moves than that. The cap is rumoured to be 83M and you still need to sign up to 3 more guys for your roster

Sorry I don’t. I see him as a liability back there I know he can skate and move the puck but when it comes to defensive coverage he is just horriable. I know it’s just not him but to give him that much money when we need defensive dman is a waste. We need a dman with a bomb to help the power play.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capfriendly77</b></div><div>Fair enough for the light trades. Only reason I suggested that was because the Canes are trying to move him ASAP. they didnt get a huge return on Skinner which make me believe if they were rushing they could do it.
And I get that, but I am not a huge fan of Ozhiganov, he just seem like a depth guy to me like Holl</div></div>
Night in and night out ozhiganov has been solid and continues to look better. I hope by next year he will be as confident as he was in the khl. Faulk is not the best in his own end and zaitsev is. I don’t see these moves as complimentary... keep gardiner move zaitsev. Losing our 2 best penalty killers also may not help us much next season.

These are the types of smaller moves I like. If you like big moves that won’t happen... I think this team wins a cup

Fixing Edmonton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EthanBearForVezina</b></div><div>Nashville isn’t trading Saros. There’s a reason they signed rinne for only 2 seasons. If anything try to sign a veteran goalie for cheap like McElhinney for 1.5 million a season. Evan Bouchard isn’t going to be a top 4 defenceman next season. If anything, he’ll start the season in the AHL. Buyout Sekera and Lucic and trade away Kassian.</div></div>
Lucic's contract is literally buyout proof, use the buyout calculator on this site, there's basically no significant cap relief for four seasons, he's just plain dead weight for the Oilers.

My Simmonds Trade scenarios
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Roscoe</b></div><div>YES, THESE ARE ALL OVERPAYMENTS. BUT THAT WAS MY POINT. IF ALL THESE TEAMS START PANICKING TO GET SIMMONDS IT COULD LEAD TO WHAT I PROPOSED. YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT TORONTO IS UNDER THE GUN TO WIN A CUP BEFORE THEY LOSE PLAYERS DUE TO THE CAP. NASHVILLE AND TAMPA ARE OVERDUE FOR A CUP AND NEED TO WIN NOW. BOSTON IS GETTING OLDER BUT PROBABLY HAVE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF PRESSURE OF WINNING NOW.</div></div>
Well...in Toronto I think Dubas is more under the gun to get our RFA's signed....and overpaying for a rental that will make doing so even harder seems counterproductive. If we trade for Simmonds, equal cap space will need to be moved the other direction. Either way I can't envision last year's first round pick + this year's upcoming first round pick + a prospect likely to battle for a roster spot next year on a low ELC contract being moved for what amounts to a depth winger on the Leafs.
Don't get me wrong...I'd love Simmonds....but I'd be happier to see Tampa or Boston pay that price and get him than to see Dubas try and outbid them.
Toronto's core players just entered their 20's...I think the window will be open for a few years here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capfriendly77</b></div><div>I completely agree, the issue is marleu has a no trade clause and would be tough/ impossible to move because he wants to win a cup. I think Lijergren is ready for a step to top 6 but noting higher truthfully. And i think Zaitsev deal could be done with the right team. The Leafs will be fine for cap in the 20-21 season, its this season that they will struggle to form their team.</div></div>
I seem to one of few Leaf fans who think some high priced forward....I have targeted Nylander as someone who has to be traded this summer. Leafs get cap relief to spend on a good NHL Dmen...if only for a short term help. Sandin and Liljegren looks like NHLers in 2020/21. You're right about Marleau, all the pouting doesn't move from from his Leafs and his NMC. The only reason he could be traded if he knows his skills has diminished so much and he decides to retires. Then he his last year of cap could be traded.

"First thing first, we need to assume players are willing to take a pay cut until Patricks 6.25 comes off the books next year." I wouldn't assume that at all. Why should some players who have made under 3 million in their careers sacrifice because Marleau has made 49m in his career.
Holl and Liljegren in the top. six? Two short on the roster and no cap. Cap is a premium for most teams, and to pass off 4.5m Zaitsev without money being returned, might really be difficult.
