I followed this link from <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/272479&amp;post_id=1094069">https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/272479&amp;post_id=1094069</a>
Murray was the worse, I cannot believe there are people who still defend his moves.
Other than O'Reilly (who did nothing to make the Sabres successful) every other trade was terrible.
Grade: B-: Sabres trade Ryan Miller and Steve Ott to St. Louis for Jaro Halak, Chris Stewart, William Carrier, a 1st round pick in 2015 and a conditional 2016 3rd round pick. Ott would probably have returned a third on his own, Carrier has 20 NHL pts in 132 games, Stewart appeared to be a good pick up never that materialized, Halak and the first. A first, a cap dump (Halak), 4th line forward and Stewart is not much of a return for Miller who even last year put up remarkable numbers.

Grade: C-: Sabres trade Halak and a 2015 3rd round pick to Washington for Michal Neuvirth and Rostislav Klesla. Halak was later traded for a 4th and Neuvirth for a 3rd in my mind that means the Sabres lost a 4th round pick and 2 spots on the third, not very good.

Grade: C-: Sabres trade Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick to Minnesota for Torrey Mitchell, a 2014 2nd round pick (Vaclav Karabacek), and a 2016 2nd round pick. Good trade, except early LAK offered Pearson, first, Matt Greene and a 3rd for Moulson and Ehrhoff. Later the Sabres got nothing for Ehrhoff.

Grade: F: Sabres trade Brayden McNabb, Jonathan Parker, and two 2nd round picks to Los Angeles for Nic Deslauriers and Hudson Fasching. Deslauriers and Fasching are career AHL. McNabb alone would have been too much, then we lost 2 2nd round picks.

Grade: F: Sabres Trade a 2016 2nd round pick to Montreal for Josh Gorges. Gorges was –28 his first year with 6 assists. His +/- could have been worse except he only played in 46 games for the Sabres. Another lost 2nd round pick

Grade: C+: Sabres trade a conditional 2015 7th round pick to Winnipeg for Jordan Samuels-Thomas. The Sabres did not lose the pick as it was conditional and the conditions were not met.

Grade: C+: Sabres trade Luke Adam to Columbus for Jerry D’Amigo. Sure why not.

Grade: B+: Sabres trade Jhonas Enroth to Dallas for Anders Lindback and a conditional 2016 3rd round pick (Casey Fitzgerald). Very good trade.

Grade: F: Sabres trade Tyler Myers, Drew Stafford, Brendan Lemieux, Joel Armia, and a 2015 1st round pick to Winnipeg for Zach Bogosian, Evander Kane, and Jason Kasdorf. After the first year, Stafford had more goals than Kane (21 v 20). Lemieux looks like he may finally develop (12 goals last year). Joel Armia was just awarded a $3,000,000 contract for his play and Myers just signed a $6,000,000 contract. Buffalo finished last with Kane and Bogosian is now a cap dump.

Grade: F-: Buffalo trades Chris Stewart to Minnesota for a 2017 second round pick. Considering that Boston offered DATM 2 seconds at the beginning of the season anything more than an F- is too generous.

Grade: C+: Sabres trade Torrey Mitchell to Montreal for Jack Nevins and a 2016 7th round pick (Vasily Glotov). Good trade to get any pick for Mitchel and Vasily Glotov had 50 pts with the Cyclones this past year.

Grade: B+: Sabres trade Michal Neuvirth to the Islanders for Chad Johnson and a 2016 3rd round pick. Good trade Johnson actually performed better than Neuvirth and a 3rd.

Grade: C+: Sabres trade Brian Flynn to Montreal for a 2016 5th round pick (Vojtech Budik). Good trade for both, Flynn performed really well in the playoffs.

Grade: D-: Sabres trade a 2015 first round pick (Colin White) to Ottawa for Robin Lehner and David Legwand. A first for Ottawa’s 3rd GK and a cap dump. A third was about the correct amount for a 3rd GK.

Grade: A: Buffalo trades Nikita Zadorov, Mikhail Grigorenko, JT Compher, and a 2015 2nd round pick to Colorado for Ryan O’Reilly and Jamie McGinn. While O’Reilly never did much to make Buffalo a winner, I will give Murray and A even if the Rockies were looking to dump him.

Grade: B+: Buffalo Trades Mike Weber to Washington for a 2017 3rd round pick. Good trade.

Grade: B: Buffalo trades Jason Akeson, Phil Varone, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, and a conditional pick to Ottawa for Michael Sdao, Alex Guptil, Cole Schneider, and Eric O’Dell. Good trade.

Grade: B: Buffalo trades Jamie McGinn to Anaheim for a conditional 3rd in 2016. I actually thought McGinn would return a 2nd, but what do I know.

Grade: D: Buffalo trades a 2016 3rd round pick to Nashville for the rights to Jimmy Vesey. Most player’s rights are traded for a 4th or 5th (see Hayes for a 5th) but a third? Then Murray did not to make a compelling offer to get him to sign.

Grade: F: Sabres trade Mark Pysyk, a 2016 2nd round pick, and 2016 3rd round pick for Dmitry Kulikov and a 2016 2nd round pick. Gave away Pysyk for nothing, Maybe Asplund will turn into a 3rd line center. Maybe C is too much considering that right now the Sabres have nothing to show for a 2nd 3rd and Pysyk.

Grade: B: Buffalo trades a 2017 4th round pick to St. Louis for Anders Nilsson. He was better than Lehner when they both played for Buffalo. But why did DATM have a back up GK in Rochester if needed.

Verdict, one really good trade everything else was a waste of resources.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shootica</b></div><div>Do you have any sources on these deals that could have been?
Outside of that, hindsight is 20/20. You'll drive yourself crazy going back in time like this.</div></div>
Here are two sources for the Moulson trade:

We know Lombardi was looking to add a LW because he settled on Gaborick, who was not performing as well as Moulson.
here is the link for the Stewart trade:
<a href="https://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/03/bruins-peter-chiarelli-made-two-different-offers-for-chris-stewart/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://boston.cbslocal.com/2015/03/03/bruins-peter-chiarelli-made-two-different-offers-for-chris-stewart/</a>
We know Chiarelli wanted a RW because he gave up 2 seconds for Brett Connolly.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Captain_Jack</b></div><div>I definitely remember the Stewart one but just google search them and they will pop up</div></div>
See above for a couple of links, I know there are more but that is enough.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Fasching is 22 and still looks promising. Everyone wants to jump down his throat because he didnt immediately stick in the NHL which no one promised he would. Sabres fans are willing to make excuses for Bailey and Baptiste, but havent given Fasching a chance. He's a GMTM type, so i dont know how he'll fit on a Botterill team now, but to say hes not good based on his rookie year in the AHL where he got hurt is asinine. He has 14 G 21 P in 57 games in the AHL. At 22.</div></div>
Murray was terrible, stop defending him. He took a last place team with picks and prospects and turned it into a last place with without picks and prospects and cap issues.
