Canes trade with Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>First of all Staal is 30, Williams is 37 so thats wrong. Carolina want no part of a player who scored 3 goals in 70 games when our main forward issue is putting the puck in the net. Puljarvi has no track record in the NHL and has been less then average in every advanced stat I can find. No thanks, if EDM needs faulk fine, not for this package
For Gritt, McGinn Martinook Ferland can all provide that spark and even aho has the capability to smack a guy if it comes to it. I will say it again, Get lost</div></div>
30 isn't north of 30, 30 IS 30! And Williams is 36, doesn't turn 37 until october 4th.
Puljujärvi has a high ceiling and can use a change of scenery, put him with his friends and he will thrive. Except Ferland whos numbers are boosted from playing with Johnny Hockey and Monahan, none of the other grit-players are productive.
This is a good trade you pancake-eating m*****f****r.

Canes trade with Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>graderman</b></div><div>The main issue with Lucic is his NMC. He presumably signed with Edmonton to play with McDavid and win the Cup again. While that ultimate goal may not be in the foreseeable future, he would still have to waive his security clause with a huge change of heart.</div></div>
I had that in mind as the biggest issue. But I also had an episode of Spittin' Chiclets in mind when they talked about Lucic and that he might waive it for the right team. Is Canes the right team? No.. but it's a fair trade for both teams and it can be a better fit for him.

Canes trade with Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I read it, don't try and insult me. You want positive value back for Lucic and someone who still hasn't proven himself at the NHL? Get outta here, go home</div></div>
You're doing a great job insulting yourself since you obviously don't have a clue what your talking about.
Lucic is one year from 50+ points, he's overpaid at 6m but at 4,5 and a 3rd line spot in 5vs5 plus a spot in front of the net in the second pp he can be really useful. Canes have a very young team as only one player is north of 30 plus the owner have asked for more "grit" and for them to be tougher to play against.
Atm Faulk is their third best RHD so his value is higher for Oilers, he's UFA in 2020 as well so do it now. Puljujärvi havn't had a good start but it's not a high risk trade, reunite him with the friends he won U18 and world juniors with and he can thrive again. Maybe even be a 60 point player!
I've made this suggestion to both Canes fans and Oilers fans, some wanted Russell to take Lucic spot but this environment can be perfect for Lucic and he can be really useful for the Canes.

Are you incabale of reading the explanation? Lucic is in the trade for salary reasons and Oilers retain 25%.
Read the reasoning and try again, 'cause it's about Puljujärvi.

moving stone and duchene
Well while I agree that Stone and Duchene should be traded I can't see them going to these teams.
The Stone trade seems reasonable, with Tolvanen coming over I can see them letting Fiala walk. Althought I can't see it happening before the start of the season, Fiala and Turris had some great chemistry and last year and I think they'll want to build on that. BUT he could end up in Nashville. The problem is that they'll want to see what they have in Fiala and Tolvanen before making any move. They may be up for a trade in november and by then Stone should have been dealt. I also think the ask will be Tolvanen since this is the first year of his ELC, Fiala is on his last year. If this trade goes through it'll be Fiala, 1st and a conditional third that can become a second if they win SC or Stone re-sign and a first if both happens this year.
The Duchene deal is awful and the reason for three stars. Washington are VERY pleased with their 1-2-3 on center. Back to drawing board.

what is the most you will give simmonds
There's really only one thing to do if they're smart (but since we know they aren't they won't do it), they HAVE to trade him NOW!
His value is SKY HIGH! His contract is fantastic and they can easily get a first, a good prospect and a decent roster player in return!!

I'm not saying Spezza goes back to Ottawa, I'm saying they want to shed his contract.
If Dallas flops this year (they won't!!) they'll eat 50% of his contract and send him to a contender as a third line center.
Like.. Jets need a third line center..

Here we go with the f*****g bridge deals again. Can't we just pay the guy $50M over the next 8 years and stop thinking about him? Can you understand how annoyed I get, sitting here in Los Angeles, by Corey Perry's $8.625M figure every time I see it? A bridge deal is fine for players like Johnsson or Kapanen who haven't yet proven their worth.
Can we turn this post into a discussion of who Ozhiganov's partner should be -- Rielly, Gardiner or Hainsey (my preference)?</div></div>
Don't underestimate Borgman! Even if his numbers are average his play is big and very mature. I'd prefer him to Hainsey in the third pair.

Small changes to Leafs roster!

Both him and Nilsson are UFAs next season, But if Nilsson is as good as you say, he she could more than was in this trade.</div></div>
I only saw like five-six games with McElhinney last season and he wasn't really good those games. He might have been great the other 12-13 games he played, his stats says he was good. I can only judge what I've seen and I saw a lot of Nilsson in the worlds (he did have a .954 with 1,09 GAA) and a few games in the season in which he played great.
I'm a big Nilsson-fan and in my opinion he's one of the best backups in the league.

He was hurt large part of last year and he's not signed to be a cornerstone of the franchise, if he doesn't have a good camp he can easily be sent down. I'm seeing it as a two-way deal.
Lindholm, Jooris, Leivo, Moore and Matthias fight for the last spot in the fourth line.

Grunstrom look like a sure NHLer to me.</div></div>
Could send one back, Nilsson is an upgrade from every other backup they have. The trade isn't to get rid of Carrick, it's to get Nilsson.

What a deadline Kevin Hayes Trade would look like
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Grantedspace96</b></div><div>Ok I admit the 1st rd pick was too much but it’s not everyday to find a 6”4 guy who is only 25 and just came off a 25 goal season. Maybe the gm who traded Forsberg for Erat would do it, or Bergevin, but not the current one. You don't drop Burra for a rental you don't need. Their top 3 centers are Bäckis, Kuz and Eller.
Adding that it's very uncommon to trade within your own division.
I'd say Jets could go after him or Nelson to replace Stastny.

There's a market for him but it's more likely to be Jets then Caps. He's a 1st RP player, nothing else.

It also seems doubtful Faulk would be on this team - he only played two meaningless game at the Olympics and was not selected for the last WCOH. Byfuglien just has a monster playoffs, he'd be included, and younger guys like Trouba (24) and Slavin (24) are much better defensively (and that roster above could use more defense-first guys lbr).
This shows how weak the US is at center when you can't include the younger guys, though. Matthews, Eichel, Larkin are much needed addition for the US program at the international level.</div></div>
I liked the Europe/NA teams, sad to hear they won't continue with them!
You sir are 100% correct! I'm not a Faulk-fan and Big Buff is the better choice by far! Don't know how I missed him.

This is for this fall and since Getzlaf was hurt such a large part of the past season (missed almost 30 games) I cut him so he can focus on training.
Couture had a lower ppg then Smith and is more of a pure center.
I could really go for Schiefele (might be the hardest name to spell in the league..) on the wing but then I'd have to replace Marchessault as well since I don't want three RHF on the same line. But it's a short tournament and as I said earlier it's always a good idea to use players who know eachother. That's why Benn/Seguin is on the same line as well.
Neal is a lateral move from Smith.

The main reason Smith is here is the duo Marchessault/Smith. In short tournaments it benefits to have players who usually play together. He also had 60 points in 67 games..
