Not much but it would change everything
Hawks gave a 3rd for fleury. We took Keith’s whole contract, this reflects a consideration on that. Fleury only makes 6.0 mil this year. 3500000 retained at the deadline is only 750k in actual money 1.9mil if they did it right now. Not worth anywhere near a 1st round pick. Kubalik is worth more than Lavioe for sure, maybe another pick/prospect . I will add something to make it more tempting . Wouldn’t want to ruin Edmonton’s reputation for losing every trade
Now it’s basically Koskinen, lavoie and Samorukov for Retained Fleury. (Fleury was picked up for a 3rd round pick, without being retained, he’s worth nothing as he probably won’t resign)) And a 1st rounder for Kubalik.
That’s a huge scoring winger prospect, almost ready defensive prospect and a first round pick. They will go a long way rebuilding the Hawks.

We’ve been going with that motto since ‘06, except for 2017, doesn’t look like it’s worked out yet. Besides, RNH is pretty good defensively, just isn’t a grinder. Besides, the Best defence is a good offence.

Dave try these lines please if were not making any trades
That 3rd line doesn’t work for me. 2 very inexperienced guys at LW and centre with a tiny guy with not much experience as their back up…. They would get eaten out there. But I do think he should try other lines before trading. Unless there’s a real goalie like Fleury available. It’s been so long since we had a top goalie we have forgotten how important it is

saving the season
Not much of this makes sense to me. Trading away 2. 1st round picks, a second, 3rd and fifth picks, as well as 3 great prospects would cripple our development for years, and the return is Koskinen and Turris gone 2 months early, a decent LD that will be expensive as 3LD next year, and Broberg will probably surpass him by then. , Dvorak, who is not better than RNH (except for face offs) at 3rd centre, and Drouin who I’m not sure he makes us better anywhere, Holloway may surpass Drouin before playoff time. Pretty weak return for that much future.
When realistically, what we really need is a goalie and a winger good enough to push RNH to 3C. When healthy our defence would look good in front of a better goalie.

I would prefer Kassian to Yamamoto in our top nine. Kassian is out scoring Yamamoto 12-7 And Yamamoto has had more games and much more quality ice time with better line mates. Would also like to see oilers move RNH to the 3rd line. Run 3 good scoring lines and 1 line of PK and FO specialist . I think it would really improve our 5vs5 scoring.

Would this team be a strong contender
No, this team would not be a contender. Your 3rd line only has 1 NHL player. The defence is weaker than last years, the goalies are not better. And Hoffman is not as good as RNH. So your top 6 is barely better.

Doesn't have to be mrazek, just figured that may be likely because of his history with Holland. Ulmark may be available from buffalo for around the same price.

Oilers- possible lineup for 21-22
Scratch kulikov. He was horrible on our team. Can't pass, not that great at breaking up the cycle and gets out of position every time he tries to hit someone.
And klefbom will be back now that covid is over so he's not needed. And khaira is broken, I doubt he will play again. He gets knocked right out too easy. And ulmark isn't that good. May as well stick with stalock if you're not going to upgrade.
Getzlaf would be awesome and he's from sask. grew up cheering for oilers so maybe. Tatar and Coleman would be good too.
As for Neal, 1st and jones to Seattle. Just let them have jones and buy out Neal. 1st round pick to save 1.9 million just doesn't make sense

Bouchard will be up for regular season. A 4th right Dman, someone will have to play left. Either Barrie or Larrson most likely. And they broke up the RNH Drai, Yamamoto line so that McDavid would have someone on his line. Get him a winger and put em back together

Edmonton Oilers signed Kyle Turris (2 Years / $1,650,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skyraider112</b></div><div>Huge steal. he certainly wasn't worth 6 mil anymore but he's worth more than 1.65 mil that's for sure. Edmonton's center depth is legit now, 3 NHL calibre centers. As long as they improve bottom 6 wing depth and add a better goalie they are actual cup contenders</div></div>
Huge steal on Turris. His "Bad year" was still top 6 in scoring for forwards on our team. And he's a right shot centre that could help take a bit of pressure off Draisaitl
Didn't Get better on goaltending, but were still pretty solid. Defence is better, Barrie replaces klefbom., Bouchard replaces Benning. That should improve our d greatly. Chance that we could get klefbom back during the season or for playoffs. Turris Puljujarvi and Ennis are good improvements.
RNH. McDavid. Puljujarvi
Ennis. Draisaitl. Yamamoto
Archibald. Turris. Kassian
Neal. Khaira. Chaisson
Nygard. Haas.
Benson
Nurse. Bear
Barrie. Larrson
Jones. Bouchard
Russel
Looking pretty good. We now have depth call up guys who were on the team last year.

Ideal Roster
I think we could do a bit better than Kahun, but I'm not that familiar with him, his stats aren't 1st line with McDavid quality. I like Nygards speed, but I think Neal would be able to create far more opportunities on the 4th line. Line 3 should be fast checking/depth scoring off the rush . With fourth line a big heavy line with depth scoring off the cycle
Ennis. Turris. Archibald
Neal. Khaira/Haas. Kassian/Chiasson
Nygard/benson would better fit the 3rd line if Ennis were to move up

Klefbom will be on ltir when the season starts, If Hall agrees to a contract, it can be signed when klefbom clears cap space out. Hall repeatedly said he wants to compete for a cup. Where better than on his pal McDavids wing. Especially with how good RNH Draisaitl and Yamamoto play. He might sign even cheaper..

Bouchard plays right defence. He has no history of playing left. And Bear had a great rookie season, but he wasn't getting 2.8 even before the pandemic. Be lucky to get 1.8 in this cap structure.

Dman amp Goalie
Hmm. Who plays left d if nurse or jones gets hurt. Kassian only plays RW. Russel was a healthy scratch for a good part of the year last year. Hard to believe he's getting better. Barrie, while not as good all around as klefbom, is pretty good for a 3rd pairing dman, he wont want to only play 14-15 mins a night. Haas and Nygard are ok as temporary depth players for call ups if NHL players get hurt. But they're not going to be regular NHL players, and they're both pretty small for 4th line grinders. Definitely downgrades on chaisson and khaira as 4th line players.
Your team should make the playoffs, but it's a step backwards from last year.
