<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>Being terrible guarantees a top 5 pick, even if you lose the lottery. Would you trade Turcotte, Kaliyev, and another 1st and another 3rd for Laine? I wouldn't. Not to mention how bad it would suck if the Kings did actually win the lottery and lose out on Lafreniere. There is no lottery protection on offer sheets.

In my opinion, adding Laine to the mix immediately would be bad for the rebuild. The Kings would be a less terrible team next season, preventing them from getting another blue-chip prospect next June. They should be in full tank mode this season. The Kings had arguably the best draft out of any team in the NHL. Another draft like that and they're much better suited for the future than adding one player. Give the scouting staff another chance to work their magic.</div></div>

I agree with you I don’t think they will. My I’m only providing counter arguments, devils advocate if you may. Personally no, no chance Arthur and Alex aren’t trade-able nor even exercise the idea of it. Prospect provide no guarantees though. Gabe was suppose to be 2C already, and as we all know hasn’t even been on the ice lately. The potential for turcotte can be high but there is never a guarantee. With an addition of Laine you are in line to not give up that top 5 Pick is all I’m trying to point out. My argument was, adding Laine doesn’t put you in line to offer sheet compensation of a top 5 pick. Bounce back seasons from 11, 77(maybe), Toffoli, Doughty etc. and adding Laine you are looking at a playoff caliber team.
