Heard from a friend who is a scout in Detroit that the offer the have on the table is Kayliev for Kostin +5th and Yzerman won't do it till the pick is removed. And Kostin is pretty much a cap dump.</div></div>
I doubt the Kings make a move for ANOTHER bottom C. Things will loosen more the closer the deadline gets and teams look to move pieces.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>LA doesn't have to move Kaliyev this TDL, he is an RFA and still would hold value. The Kings just changed their coach before the last game, you think he doesn't have any wish to see if Kaliyev better fits his system? If teams want to low ball to get Kaliyev I'd just rather LA waits, Lafreniere and Turcotte can be sent down to facilitate patience if needed. The point is, if there is no player that actually makes the Kings better, why not keep a player who has scored goals at the NHL level until the end of the season?</div></div>
The issue with Kaliyev isn't goal scoring, though he did do much of that in the 38 games he played. He hasn't shown the same touch he did last season. The issue is he is a liability on defense. Bottom six fowards on this team don't work if they aren't active pests on D. That's just the system. He's not a board battler, and not a 200 foot player, and has never shown an interest in being those things. When they played Kaliyev it was for his touch on the PP. This road trip will tell the tale. If Hiller plays more than once he might have a shot at staying around, but I doubt it. The kings have plenty of guys they can plug into the bottom six that have scored goals at the NHL level.

LA WILL move Kaliyev period. They might try for an upgrade on the third line LD, but it will have to be a cheap one. There are too many forwards in the system that SHOULD be playing, but not enough ice for all of them to play on.

Minor Moves
That's where we disagree. I think Lennox is worth a late second rounder or early third, and I don't think Juho is ready for the ECHL. He's way behind in development and could very well not get a contract at all.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>
Right now, the Kings have a logjam in the AHL at goaltender, so there's nowhere for this kid to play. Portillo needs starts, and Ingham is down there being evaluated for a NHL contract next season. Juho Markkanen also needs a contract this summer and will need playing time in either the AHL or ECHL.
</div></div>
The kings need 2 tenders next season. With the cap situation odds are it's whomever is signed in the off season and Portillo backing them up. Ingram's going to be alone in Ontario and Juho will be a Swamp Rabbit IF he gets a contract. Kaliyev's trade capital is pretty low right now. I don't see them getting anything that will help now for him.

Moving Kaliyev is a foregone conclusion. The biggest long term need the Kings have is the prospect pool in goalie. Kaliyev might pull a 2nd, or a 2nd and a long term prospect tops. Lennox is going to be a monster in 3 years and a great option to push Portillo. He's not just some minor leaguer, kid could be a top goalie before well before he's out of arbitration.

The second likely gets it done, but LA might ask for a 2nd and a 7th or a 2nd and rights for an unsigned prospect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tkecanuck341</b></div><div>If the Kings look like they're going to miss the playoffs, they very likely will. If not, they won't. Just think about the players that contenders add at the deadline and the price they pay for them. If the Kings are contending, Matt Roy is worth more to them than a 1st round pick that won't be helpful for several more years.</div></div>
Unless they go on a tear, the Kings are looking at another first round bounce, which still likely doesn't save Blakey. The wise plan for the future. Get Clarke and Spenny some playoff experience and get some assets back to build for the future. The pipeline is drying up.

If Matt Roy demands a 1st + then it's time to trade him.

You think anyone is willing to pay a first for Roy? He's about to be a UFA. Montreal has already come out and said the price for Allen is a prospect and a pick.

Kings don't have the room to make that trade until the off season. Doubt they'll want to spend that much for a 3rd line LD.

Meh, the picks are fine. Kings have youth that need to get some 4th line Reps and possibly playoff time now. (Turc, ****emo...)
