Leafs get Trade-happy to make a Run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Is Toronto "focusing on the future"? Why should the Kings?
Assuming that your team can't compete with other teams in the Conference is defeatism of the worst kind. And there is absolutely no reason to believe that Timothy Liljegren will have a greater future impact than Jordan Spence -- never mind Brandt Clarke -- so the appeal of his "potential" is extremely limited.</div></div>
You left out that the Knights currently have higher odds to miss the playoffs entirely than the Kings. Currently the Kings and Oilers could be battling out for Second in the Conference down the stretch due to SoS.

The Devil Wears A Suit and Tie
The Kings are not trading their best Defensive Defenseman when they are preparing for a playoff run. They sure as heck aren't retaining any of his salary when they are up against the cap.

Leafs get Trade-happy to make a Run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PattyL</b></div><div>Fari enough, and the Kings could make a run, but the West is loaded up top. I could see them focusing on the future and trading him as he's a pending-UFA and they may not be able/willing to resign him, especially when you get decent value back in a potential Top-4 defender in Liljegren and a 1st this year.</div></div>
The Kings do not care that he is pending FA. They'll try to resign him, and if they don't they'll consider him a rental. There is NO WAY the Kings trade Roy. Lilijegren has no value to the Kings they don't need a young RD. They have Clarke and Spence both ready to fill in the gap that losing Roy in the off season leaves. Good luck in your endeavors.

The way the Boston Rumor mill is churning the break up seems inevitable. We'll see what really happens this week.

Swap Cam for Rittich if you like, but I think he'd likely waive that NTC to go to Boston and have a better chance at a ring. Boston is a lot closer to home for him.

The Dell signing could mean Cam or Dave is potentially part of the package going the other way to back-up Swayman.

I don't disagree, but the rumors are a swirling. The Kings want to resign Roy in the offseason, but I'm not sure how they would pull of a trade with Boston without moving him.

Both teams win here though Ritchie, a 1st round pick and a small add would probably be enough.</div></div>
You're crazy. Danult is in his prime right now and a 1C in half of the NHL. He's starting to get top minutes in LA. It's a sellers market for 200 ft top line forwards right now.

LMAO, yeah. We don't need a fourth liner, yet another RD, or a mediocre at best goalie. Rittich has been lights out and is the 1A now. I don't think any of these options are upgrades.

I love the physical edge Englund brings, but he's gotta be more consistent and more responsible.

Different Approach
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tryger</b></div><div>LA already has a defensive 4th line with Lewis, Lizotte, and Grundstrom. Can you provide where you read this about Kaliyev being traded for a defensively responsible 4th liner?
If Kaliyev is not moved at the deadline I hope you can articulate how this impossibility occurred.</div></div>
They are more likely to look for a 3rd pair LD upgrade or an upgrade at goal if they get the chance this seaon. If they don't then they find a deal in the offseason. But Kaliyev WILL be traded. Kid doesn't fit the system.
