Go onto Edmonton Oilers and check out the contracts. Russell/Sekera are moveable and Lucic might be. They're not in a great spot, but moving your second best forward on the team is the incorrect move boys sorry.

Blow It up Folks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>You're overpaying for young importantish players off non-playoff teams that don't want to give them up and aren't that interested in the older guys they're getting back.
It's a cliche that old, accomplished guys get traded to good teams for young guys with a potential. That's because so often, that's mutually beneficial. Then you also have to look at positional need. Calgary and Montreal both need a #1 center. Bennett has equal value to them each.</div></div>
Not sure I agree with you for a number of reasons... So lets start with overpaying for young important players....
The only trade I can see you talking about in this context is Sam Bennett or maybe Max Domi. Either way, I don't believe these are overpayments.
Let's start with Bennett: The guy has 26 PTS the last two seasons, and has basically shown he will be, at max, a second line centre. Giving Calgary two decent picks to restock their depleted arsenal, plus Andrew Shaw at a 2.9 cap hit for a couple more years, should be enough to get Bennett. I think he would fit well in MTL in a third line role.
The ARZ trade is pretty simple. MTL is giving up 2 A-Prospects, a high pick, and giving ARZ a bad contract for Domi and Stepan (Another expensive contract). I think Stepan is a nice add for that second line.
So that's my thought process.... Oh, and the CGY MTL need a #1 centre and bennett being that is a nonononono

Yes this is extremely Controversial
CBJ won't be looking to move Panarin. I think moving Drai or RNH is just creating more problems then solving. Keep your core or 97,93,29 and try to bring in a puck moving RD and a winger for Drai. Obviously RNH can play with McDavid, so i'd keep it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Manfred</b></div><div>This trade would actually help you resign young talent and is a fair trade while reinforcing the 3rd pair of defense.
RNH is the most expensive 3rd line center in the league and Lucic is the most paid 10 goals/yr enforcer who will be bought back before the end of his contract. He is a very big pill to swallow.
If EDM keeps both, they'll be stuck to the cap ceiling and unable to resign rising stars in a very near future.
Pacioretty never had a real 1st center in his NHL career. With McDavid, he will finally break the 40 goals mark and even compete for the Maurice Richard Trophee.</div></div>
RNH played either second line centre or first line LW all year so don't spew that garbage.

Big fan of Carlson, but if you are going to get RNH out of Edmonton... it can't be with a first round pick.. We just found out that he can play with McDavid, and they are putting up huge numbers. EDM needs wing depth right now more than anything, puck moving d man second though for sure.

Impossible
I like the trades, I'd even throw 2019 1st in for Barrie, who I feel, is a huge add to this group.
That being said, I'm not a huge fan on adding Brodziak or Hansen. I'd take the 6 mill you wrapped up in Grabner/Brodziak/Hansen/Cammy and go after JVR or Neal... if not then just go for Grabner, the others are too slow and old. I also believe if Yamamoto has another strong camp, there's no reason to say he shouldn't be on this team. Tearing up Junior, had a strong 6 out of 9 games this year in the NHL, and a solid camp as well.

It's so strange how people think Zadina should be in the NHL yet Yam should be in the AHL. It blows my mind. Yamamoto is probably more ready NHL wise than Pool Party. Anyways that being said Caggulia and Slepy would get bridge deals not 5 or 4 year deals, Pakarinen I hope doesn't get resigned, Benning will get a bridge for less than 3 years, if Nurse signs 8 years it would be for more than 4 mill, Strome one is meh i'm okay with it.
Too much term on a lot of these guy's deals considering tey haven't proven much yet.

Neal is going to want more tenure, and will likely get paid more elsewere. I think we have to come with terms that Lucic is here for 5 more years:(. No one will take that contract or he won't waive his clause... I think our best move would be to try and move Sekera or Russell and then make a run at JVR. I think the JVR deal is pretty spot on, and I'd pay that much for him on 97's wing.

Pretty much spot on man. We've gotta stop this garbage that we are doing employing more than one AHL lifer that's 30+ years old. This line up is on the right path. I do believe Yamamoto is NHL ready and will probably make the jump, but if he doesn't, we shouldn't be too worried. Guy's a stud.

Nuge for Hoffman (RIP)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Seabrook has only averaged the same amount of PPG as RNH has over the last several seasons.....
Seabrook is a LEGITIMATE top 4 defenseman - he's still responsible in his own end and he can still put up points.... He's no where CLOSE to bottom pairing and he would be without question be the Oilers best defenseman....
Seabrook was once a top 10 defenseman in the league, he's not top 10 anymore, however that doesn't mean he's bottom pairing - it just means he's no longer top 10.....
Sorry but not being worth 6.875 million until your 40 DOES NOT mean "not good".....
Seriously...... Oilers fans laughing at Seabrook is hysterical tho considering Seabrook is absolutely everything the Oilers need to win , yet he's been called "bottom paring" and "fringe AHL'er"..... Seriously?? Seabrook is having an off year and he still put up 21 points so far playing 20 minutes a night...... Heck, last season Seabrook put up 40 points..

I was talking about Russell in this situation hahahaha. But you'll still never convince me that bringing in Seabrook as a 6.2 million dollar locker room guy would be worth it unless your taking Lucic

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>The thing is it's not like the Oilers "have to" move him, I think moving RNH is just wishful thinking by the Oilers fans for some reason.
I know Oilers fans will absolutely disagree with this and will WRONGLY be insulted by this but Seabrook & the RFA rights to Duclair for RNH would actually make the Oilers a better team (he would also be their best defenseman)... Seabrooks leadership would make the Oilers a playoff team and perhaps even get them a deep playoff run..... But Edmonton clearly thinks they can just draft themselves a Cup without making significant signings or trades... They think if they draft good enough a Cup will just fall in their lap because 10 top 5 picks on one team = Stanley Cup, lol.
At the very least they should sign Sharp and Ian Cole...
Connor McDavid is great and a generational talent for sure but he's no Toews....</div></div>
Stop trying to make it sound like Seabrook is anything but a washed up D-man making a ton of money hahahahaha

He does stuff other than just blocking shots, that's just his main thing. And if you're NUMBER ONE in the league in shot blocks, come on, you'd have to say that's pretty good. It's almost like making a save as the goalie.</div></div>
What else does he do? Yeah sure it's a positive to block shots. But you say he does other things, and I don't see it. He doesn't put up points, he doesn't have a heavy shot, doesn't move the puck well at all... I just don't see it.

No Russell is bad. You can block shots, but if you can't make a breakout pass or defend an odd man rush at least a bit, you aren't good.
But anyways... #KEEPNUGEFOREVER

Oilers from 2010 draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>The problem with this kind of cherry-picking when it comes to how bad a team drafts in earlier years is would they be bad enough to end up with Nurse? Draisaitl? McDavid? Puljujarvi? Are they ever good enough to select Yamamoto or do they finish lower or higher in 2017? Part of what got the Oilers those quality players in the draft was how mind-numbingly bad they were in terms of doing the hockey and drafting outside the 1st round / missing in 2012.
Personally, if they do as you figure they did up to the 2012 draft, Bo Horvat probably ends up an Oiler in 2013. If the organization is confident enough in the development of Rielly, Klefbom, Faulk, and Larsson, it makes almost no sense to go after Nurse. The team is more defensively sound in 2014, and they probably do end up with Draisaitl since the forward depth would be terribly bad without RNH and Yakupov (who were somewhat producive in those dark years). I can't say they'd nab McDavid, Puljujarvi, or Yamamoto though.</div></div>
That first line is hot tho
