Strome would only work if the plan is to play him on the wing, if we are targeting a centre needs to be a right shot that can win face offs and kill penalties
Strome is 47% for his career in the dot

Oilers decline the Kieth deal, hawks have to retain as Kos only has 1 yr left and we’re not eating Kieths full cap hit in yr 2, Nurse needs a extension next yr

I think that we're going to want a more immediate return for trading Rickard Rakell than a future second and a prospect at a position of strength (LD). The problem, of course, is that you don't have a 2021 second, so it's either your 2021 first (we add) or someone like Ethan Bear or Raphael Lavoie.

Ducks have far too many LD to accept said deal. I will say after seeing what Arvidsson went for, I do think price wise your on the mark.

Ah yes just what the Oilers need, Tatar a notorious playoff disappearing act he of a career 0.3 ppg in the playoffs in 40 career games. A little context, JT Compher has a 0.47ppg playoff average in 38 career games.

I really like a 1 year deal for one of the wingers the Oil might sign, with Holloway simmering for top 6 potentially in 2022-23. Tatar seems likely for a show me seeing as he had an off year for goalscoring. Oil could afford to go pretty high with it, honestly I'd like to see Holland bid up to 5 mil on a 1 year. That along with a longer term RNH/Saad/Hyman type signing would be a good combo.

I would be scared if the Oilers signed that Hoffman contract. He will be 36 when that contact is over and he's showing signs of starting to slow down. From my perspective you are buying out James Neal's bad contract to potentially have Hoffman's contract on the books. I'd feel much better if it were like a 2 or 3 year deal maybe?
Can people also tell me why Mikko is getting bought out? He had a bad year, the last two years he's been either an average NHL goalie or he's been pretty good. People forget last year he had a .917. I'd run him for one more year personally.
Neal I get, that bum can leave.

2021 NHL Mock Draft
In this round there are 8 teams out and 8 teams going on. The 8 teams out will be picking in slots 17 to 24 based on points. Tie breakers are as follows:
If two or more clubs are tied in points during the regular season, the standing of the clubs is determined in the following order:
*****The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage). ****THIS DOESN'T MATTER SINCE EVERYONE PLAYED THE SAME AMOUNT OF GAMES
The greater number of games won, excluding games won in Overtime or by Shootout (i.e., "Regulation Wins"). This figure is reflected in the RW column.
The greater number of games won, excluding games won by Shootout. This figure is reflected in the ROW column.
The greater number of games won by the Club in any manner (i.e, "Total Wins"). This figure is reflected in the W column.
The greater number of points earned in games against each other among two or more tied clubs. For the purpose of determining standing for two or more Clubs that have not played an even number of games with one or more of the other tied Clubs, the first game played in the city that has the extra game (the "odd game") shall not be included. When more than two Clubs are tied, the percentage of available points earned in games among each other (and not including any "odd games") shall be used to determine standing.
The greater differential between goals for and against (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the DIFF column.
The greater number of goals scored (including goals scored in Overtime or awarded for prevailing in Shootouts) for the entire regular season. This figure is reflected in the GF column.
NOTE: In standings a victory in a shootout counts as one goal for, while a shootout loss counts as one goal against.
Washington, Toronto and Pittsburgh all have 77pts. So you go to RW stilled tied all have 29 RW. So on to ROW Toronto and Pittsburgh have each have 34 and Washington has 33 so if all 3 get knocked out in the same round Washington picks before Pittsburgh and Toronto. The next is W and since Pittsburgh 37 W and Toronto has 35 W. So if all knocked in the same round the order is Pittsburgh, Toronto and the Washington. Florida has already lost and since they have 79 points they are currently picking at 24.
Currently the teams that have been already knocked out are in this order:
STL 63
EDM 72
WAS 77
PIT 77
FLA 79
With 3 series still undecided
Montreal 59 vs Toronto 77 so if Montreal loses they get the 17th pick, If Toronto loses they pick in-between Washington and Pittsburgh
Nashville 64 vs Carolina 80 so if Nashville loses they pick in-between St. Louis and Edmonton. If Carolina loses they pick after Florida
Minnesota 75 vs Vegas 82 so if Minnesota loses they are picking in-between Washington and Edmonton. If Vegas loses they will have the 24th pick.
The tie breaking procedures are copied from NHL.com

Yeah with the Caps out earlier than expected I was thinking maybe Cossa would fall to their pick but with Edmonton picking a pick or 2 before Washington depending on the outcome of the final game in the Vegas v Minnesota series.

Newhook and Marner comparisons. I do agree that he may not be quite like Mitch Marner but he is definitely top 3 for most skilled players in the draft along with Eklund and Lysell.</div></div>
I'd tap the brakes a touch. Not stomp on them, but be ready to decelerate. I did an NHLe analysis on Johnson recently and found the results interesting:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BeterChiarelli</b></div><div>'m personally not hating on him, it's a matter of how he's been utilized and the development path he's taken.
Kent Johnson: D-1 and D0 NHLe:
82GP - 8.056G - 12.66A - 20.716P
82GP - 9.714G - 19.426A - 29.140P.
The path for any Canadian forward into the NCAA without going through the USHL takes a toll on both their numbers and their draft stock: Canadian Jr. A isn't yet a prolific enough of a set of leagues to suggest it's the best developmental environment for top prospects. The BCHL is Canada's top Jr.A league and it's still about 25% weaker than the USHL. It doesn't help that Johnson is a genuine beanpole and doesn't engage in any physical play at all. Hockey men are a bit proterozoic in this regard and will make note of it.
For reference, Marner's D-1 and D0 numbers:
82GP: 5.669G - 18.423A - 24.092P
82GP 19.582G - 32.883A - 52.465P
RNH's D-1 and D0 numbers:
82GP: 8.587G - 15.385A - 23.972P
82GP: 11.399G - 26.706A - 38.105P
Marner was in a completely different stratosphere come his draft day than Johnson is today. In terms of size, style, position, and usage, Johnson is clearly RNH-lite, falling about 9 NHL points shy in terms of what RNH was projected to be when he went first overall. It's not a poor comparison, RNH is a multi-tool that can take faceoffs but is likely a very average #2C at best. More suited to the wing.</div></div>

Yes and No - I would really like to have more scoring depth at Centre. Although not demonstrated strong puck movers, Romanov and Guhle can both play the right side. I will say Petry has 3 more seasons in him before he can no longer play top pairing minutes. The better move is to package something so that we could move up to pick Ceulemans - I don't think he goes at 16. Weber can't play top pairing minutes now - should be moved to 3/4 or even 5/6 in the next 2 years.

CHI decline. the prospect does nothing for us and we could likely get a better return for Strome although if the offer changed and included a cap dump plus your 2022 first with some variation I think that would be a basis for discussion.
