fix the powerplay smh
If the forwards all come back to health, I see Thornton as the odd man out on most nights. The legs don't seem to be there.
The PP. I wouldn't worry about the set up in the offensive zone. Past two weeks, haven't seen a entry in the offensive zone with puck possession.

After the trade, I went back and started watching the CBJ games that my PVR picked up. I feel like we all kind of know what Foligno is, but I wanted to really watch him and see if there were tendencies or things that I haven't noticed about him. The thing I was most pleasantly surprised with was his play on the PP and I think it'll help the Leafs if they utilize him in the same way. He was playing in the 'bumper' position, where you currently have JT, and that's right where I would leave him (assuming the same personnel):
(Net)
Tavares
Foligno
Matthews Marner
Rielly
What I really liked about him in that position was that he was always moving his feet, which I think has become an issue on the Leafs PP. He follows the flow of play and creates movement among the defenders. I think he'd really help in opening up lanes, particularly the cross ice to AM that we're all so familiar with, and barring that play being available, Mitch going down low to JT and Foligno crashing the net could create all kinds of havoc.... I like the potential of that unit.
Edit: Aww, my PP setup didn't show up as planned.

I like the depth. One thing Keefe has done all year is shuffle lines regularly. As much as it has frustrated us at times it has allowed chemistry to build with multiple combos. This will be key throughout the playoffs depending on which teams are played. I like the idea of a revolving door throughout the lineup with a few exceptions (Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Hyman, Nylander). I hope Spezza is in the lineup as many games as possible as he has been the most consistent player all year. If the Leafs don't go the distance this year I hope he's got one more year in him yet. What a fantastic pro.

Thornton isn't going to sit. Nash will force Kerfoot out or will wait till their is an injury.bb

TDL moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FiftyyearsofFailure</b></div><div>he doesn't need to look that good beside bogo, he's 6'7 255 and loves throwing the body, nobody is gonna wanna go up against those 2 together lool, and bogo has actually. been a very good skater and distributor this year so I wouldn't even mind this, exactly the type of player that's affective in the playoffs</div></div>
Bogo has been decent this year, and he's been a decent distributor with about 90% of his passes going to Dermott. I can't really say I remember one bone crunching hit he's thrown this year, but he's been a bit physical.
I don't mind Oleksiak, but neither him or Bogo should be the main puck mover on their pairing. They would get plenty of opportunities to hit, as they'd spend the majority of every game together hemmed in their own end.

Might as well put Dermott in the deal, as he wouldn't clear waivers.
Also, I guess Oleksiak will look the same playing with Bogosian as he does with Heiskanen, there about the same level of player.

what I would do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FiftyyearsofFailure</b></div><div>his cap hit is at 8 mil, so 50 percent retention from Buffalo gets it to 4 mil.
its a three team trade so Chicago also retains 50 percent of the 4 mil to get it to 2mil, as we did for them and Vegas with the robin lehner trade</div></div>
Gotcha. Wasn't sure what was going on since you didn't just trade for him and use the retention tool

Why would the Panthers trade Driedger??? Are they not trying to win the cup???

Driedger is a UFA - if Florida doesn’t trade him (which they definitely should be keeping him) they’ll likely just use him as their own “UFA rental”.
If he won’t extend then that’s probably best to see if they can do some damage in the playoffs with Barkov and company.
Seattle could not select him unless they have a notion that he’d sign a contract with them. Or the select him anyways to be safe then he hits UFA or signs.
Either way I doubt we see any move involving Driedger until the seasons done. He’d cost more then a second either way.

The Kings will very likely re-sign Iafallo. They don't have anyone NHL ready in the organization to take his spot on the top line. It doesn't make sense to let him walk. I expect an extension to be announced in the next week or two.
He's all about that surfing life too, so I expect him to want to stick around.

Replace Semyon with a higher quality prospect and it's a deal for the Kings.
Although the Kings might re-sign Iafallo instead.
Iafallo is certainly on a bargain contract right now, so price will be high.
