it absolutely would. no way Ottawa lets EK go for anything less than a bona fide roster player, 1 or 2 high end prospects and a 1st at least

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>i don’t think EDM wants to pay their C3 7.25 a year. If they would and Krug is going i’d want Klefbom back. Which probably means adding Heinen to the deal which i don’t like.
Would not mind replacing Krejci with RNH at C2. I just think it would require a seperate deal with another team to take Krejci, a 3 way, or they’d want us to take Looch or Sekera. No matter how it went down, not sure you’d be happy with the end results.</div></div>
Yeah that's fair, I would like Klefbom back also but I dont wanna lose a guy like Heinen, which is why I left him out. I think we could muster up a 3 way deal that would be advantageous to us, but right now I have no clue what that could be. I would have to gauge the interest in Krejci around the league first. It would be our best option though, because there's no way we could afford to take on Lucic or Sekera's contract

Why clear cap going into a season, when free agency is basically over?
We're also downgrading on forward and defense</div></div>
Perhaps I was thinking a bit too far in advance. We have some big names needing new contracts soon, and we need the cap room.
We could wait until the offseason for this, but what if Nuge has a monster season? All of a sudden his value skyrockets, and the Oilers want to keep him, or want much more in a trade. I get it seems like a bit of a lateral move now, but in the future i think it would look good

Realistic value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MelonVK</b></div><div>Whats the issue? Do you think RNH is better than Krejci? Nurse is better than Krug?</div></div>
The price for the Nuge would probably be Krug and Krejci, meaning the second part would be Nurse for Cehlarik and Zboril. Zboril is a good prospect, but he hasn't proven anything yet and probably needs some more AHL time. Cehlarik is a mid level winger. I dont see a team starving for defense, like the Oilers are, trading a top 6/top 4 guy in Nurse for that.

Edmonton probably says no to that one. Then again, they said yes to Hall for Larsson so you never know...

Dzingel?
If we could get Dzingel in a deal like that, then I would be ecstatic. Sadly I doubt the Sens would give him up for Cehlarik and a 3rd, but I like this idea. Dzingel probably wouldn't play centre, he would most likely be on the wing, so we could sign for another guy to play 3C. Antoine Vermette perhaps?

Space for the youngers
Doesnt make sense for us right now. We're a contending team, why would we give up 2 very good veteran players, a top 6 centre and a top 4 defenseman, for picks? Plus giving away McQuaid and Miller? Thats going in the complete wrong direction right now

Would this help?
I'm not sure the Sens would want Krejci, a 32 year old centre, considering their current position. They would be even less eager to swap him for a 27 year old centre who is still in his prime. Furthermore, Krejci has a no movement clause on his contract and I seriously doubt he would waive it to go to Ottawa right now. I like the idea of getting Duchene, but it wouldn't happen in this deal. Take out Krejci and add in prospects or young NHLers and maybe it would fly, but otherwise no.
Also, Duchene isn't exactly a player we need as of now. We have a bit of a logjam at centre, so if we were to get him he would most likely end up being a winger. The better options for us right now would be to trade for a winger, like Skinner perhaps, instead of trading for a centre and playing him out of his natural position.

Patches?
Even though the price wont be very high, itll probably be higher than that.
Patches is a legitimate 35+ goal man, and regardless of the comments by the Canadiens he will command a decent return. Probably gonna have to give up a higher upside prospect and a 1st or 2nd rounder, especially if youre including McQuaid.
On top of all that, Boston is a division rival. As unwise as Bergevin is, he knows enough to either avoid trading a player of Pacioretty's caliber to a rival, or ask for a lot in return for him.
Dont get me wrong, I think Patches would fill our need of a scoring winger, and I'd love to get him, but I just dont see it happening in that deal. Either we overpay to get him now or take our chances in free agency next year. With other wingers like Skinner available now, I'd rather sit out on Pacioretty until the summer.

2018 Boston Bruins Offseason Thread
Thoughts on trading for a winger this offseason? Panarin and Skinner are the 2 obvious choices, and personally I would rather Skinner.
Obviously Panarin is the more talented player, but it would cost us much more to get him. Asking price from CBJ would most likely be a high end prospect, roster player and a 1st, and that just seems like too much for a player who may not even resign with us at the end of the season. The goal would be to make a trade for a high end winger in order to compete with Tampa and Toronto, while at the same time keeping our window open for as long as possible. By trading for Panarin I think we would be sacrificing too much of our future, when we could give up less for Skinner and still get a very skilled winger to play alongside Krejci and DeBrusk. Asking price for Skinner is reportedly a 1st and a prospect, and we could negotiate a bit, maybe add a 2nd to the deal and end up giving up a less valuable prospect. Overall it just seems like trading for Skinner makes much more sense for us at this point, rather than cleaning house and getting Panarin.
