Ima be honest, I forgor about all of them except sorokin. Wanted to go less than 4 mil for goalies since they generally have less AAV for their role.

Just go grab someone like Nikita Artamonov or Trevor Connelly, someone with skill, then start praparing for 2-3 years from now where we move money now. We arent winning anything this season</div></div>
The Horvat Deal and the romanov deal last year confirmed we are in win now mode. Lou wants one last cup in his career. If we were going to rebuild it should have started summer of 2022.

Trade Deadline
Im not sure if the isles are too keen on trading wahlstrom right now. Emphasis on right now because apparently roy sees a lot in wahlstrom and I have a gut feeling wahlstrom might earn more responsibilities because of that. With that said, pure value-wise, that is a good trade.

Nelson only plays wing on the powerplay. He never plays wing 5 v 5.

only 4 forwards per team and all the center spots were taken. Trocheck has been their best center by far.

retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>Nelson is significantly better... than Drury yes... than Aho no. Varlamov would be the starter with the Canes but I'm concerned about his age. My concern with Nelson falling off a cliff is that he's 32 and that starts to be the age when stuff tends to fall off a cliff</div></div>
After this year, Nelson has one more year left on his deal. Regardless you get a guaranteed legit 2nd line center for at least 1 playoff run. Let's say next year he does fall off. He would only hit 3 million on the cap and still get you 40 points at least. Let's say Varlamov regresses, he isn't making a ton and with at least the first year he will be starting caliber and by the time he falls off, you would hope Kochetkov is starting caliber by the time that happens.

retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>Drury has been just fine filling in as a 2C... there is no need to overpay for a center who's going to fall off a cliff soon
Aho plays in a much more defensively focused system which suppresses everybody's offense at 5v5 and if you put Aho on the Isles he probably out-produces Nelson by quite a fair bit at 5v5</div></div>
Nelson is significantly better. Also having a guy who has been a consistent 30-40 goal scorer the past 3 years, and would be for the past 5 years if not for COVID and an injury, is better than Drury. Not to mention he has shown no signs of regression and has this year and one year after that on his deal. Saying that he is going to fall off a cliff is wild considering the player you are talking about. Also the entire trade isn't just for Brock Nelson. Semyon Varlamov would be a starter for the Canes. Kotchetkov has been inconsistent. Yes, he was hot just recently but with young goalies, you never know when they might get cold again. Look at Stewart Skinner for example.

I think it was just one, granted I didn't look into it too much. I think it was a suggestion in an article from a Canadian news outlet that spread quickly on social media. Not sure how legitimate it is though since rumors are just that, rumors.

Hit the gas on that rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>It's not impossible that the Isles decide to tear it down and rebuild. They are deeply in the mushy middle. Maybe Lou steps away and the new GM sells a vision of drafting James Hagen's & Michael Misa in 2025. Hell of a way to kickoff a rebuild!</div></div>
even if they do tear it down, dobson probably stays as he is 24. Doesn't make sense even in that context.
