Would this be a fair deal

2) I said high picks and 2nd overalls, not just 2nds
3) You say this like I’m nuts for assuming a 20 year old center has shown flashes of brilliance and has clear room for improvement</div></div>
My bad, I didn't mean for it to sound that way, I thought you may have had many examples of 2nd overall picks and was genurally curious. I will admit that I got distracted by the 2nd overall part

Would this be a fair deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>From pretty much every hypothetical I’ve seen on ACGM people aren’t understand Patrick’s position with the Flyers/underestimating his value. Many 2nd OA/high end picks have had roughly Patrick’s production in their first 2 seasons to go on and turn into great players (Barkov is a great example of this). Watching him play in Philly he has a tremendous amount of skill and has looked like he’s been on the verge of breaking out big time for awhile now. Hayes isn’t being brought in to be our 2C for the entire duration of his contract, he’s being brought in to play 2C so Patrick can take an easier role/have more time to develop. Patrick is worth leaps and bounds more than our 11OA pick and it would be really, really stupid to trade him already</div></div>
Could you give more examples of such 2nd round picks? because Seguin, Landeskog, Reinhart, Eichel, and Laine have all had at least 1 season with over 40 points in there 1st 2 seasons

Trouba to NYR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>McMannis90</b></div><div>The thought is that Wilson drops down the lineup when they need of the young wingers proves themself ready for the top 6... Good teams are deep at center. RNH is an upgrade that, frankly is necessary.</div></div>
You make some pretty good points, I just don't see the Jets giving up on Ehlers just yet, also I think we'll end up getting a center for Trouba

Trouba to NYR
I'm not a huge fan of swapping Ehlers for RNH, Ehlers is younger and sighned longer, given your high praise about Wilson I see no reason why he can't center the 2nd line with Ehlers and Laine on the wing.

Question Perreault to buf
I would just trade Perreault for a pick, don't get me wrong he is a good player and I'm sure he's a nice guy but the Jets just need to get rid of his salary

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>Ottawa was not a cup contender and stone was traded after the following year’s cap number was known (trade was in February so It was only a few months earlier than free agency) and it was to a playoff team. Not 13 months when the cap is unknown. Plus Ottawa’s management didn’t screw him over like the Jets management has with Trouba.
Apples and Oranges comparison.</div></div>
1. The cap for next year hasn't even been officially set yet we are all just going on an estimated assumption
2. Stone may had bben traded but that didn't mean he had to re-sign with Vegas instead of testing free agency
3. The Jets management didn't screw Trouba over, they just weren't gonna let Trouba just screw them over. We originally wanted to sign him longterm, Trouba just doesn't want to play for Winnipeg, and just because someone asks for a trade it doesn't mean you have to send them away right away instead of taking time for a reasonable offer to be made.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dca919</b></div><div>Frost and their 1st rounder for a 1 year rental of Trouba (he won’t sign a long term contract for many reasons listed below) that’s way way too much for a rental.
Reasons why he goes to UFA:
1) Salary cap will go up next year means more $ for UFA's
2) Every team can bid and not have to give up assets means more $ than by choosing among the few that met the Jets trade demands. Also means he gets a true choice of where he goes.
3) Expiring contracts means teams have more money than before
4) More info will be available about the upcoming CBA so he can structure his contract as lockout proofed if necessary
5) He gets to stick it to Jets management for their role in the failed negotiations that lead to his holdout, for denying his 1st trade request in 2016, for taking him to arbitration in 2018, and for putting him on the block right now.</div></div>
The same reasons could have been given about Stone yet he still signed longterm before hitting free agency

I was thinking the pick could bu used to draft a center that could play with Ehlers and Laine right away while saving money

I actually am a Jets fan and was just curious what Red Wing fans thought, I'd be willing to trade Trouba and Skyler McKenzie for the 6th overall pick (I'm just thinking the Jets could use that pick to draft a center to play with Laine and Ehlers)

This is the sort of contingency plan Yzerman might have in his pocket, and decide to deploy right after the Kings take Bowen Byram at #5. What if the Jets added something like Lowry or the rights to Copp?
