You were the one who said we could flip him for a profit. It's not that he's not elite but a lot of good teams that would need him can't afford 7. 25 million. Get real

Also to add on a comment before. MTL would have a hard time flipping letang for a profit. He's paid 7.25 mil and a lot of teams have a cap issue because of the nhl freezing the cap.

Maybe gally?!!!!! He's our top goal scorer and a great locker room guy! He scores 30+ goals even without the pp

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>you offer a guy 6X6 to be a 3C? I call that awful asset management</div></div>
It's not written in stone he will be a 3rd line C. JK played bad last season but had an amazing playoffs. I don't see him jumping to 1st line C or even 2nd line yet. Also MTL doesn't really play the traditional 1st line, 2nd line, 3rd line, 4th line minutes wise. They are more balanced.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>hes a solid 3rd liner. pump the breaks. hes good for around 30 ish points and good two way. Thats a good player, but not a "core guy" like you suggest</div></div>
I think he's more talking leadership wise for the future. He's only 25 and could be a late bloomer, he doesn't play on great line, he was moved around a lot, he doesn't play on the pp, and he had 27 points in 70 games last season.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>i get that, but this trade is awful for pittsburgh value wise, and even if MTL doesnt want to keep letang, they could flip him for more than what they paid for. Overall its just a pointless trade that wont happen, but in terms of value, pens are losing it</div></div>
I can see where you are coming from but the value for MTL is atrocious. We are losing picks, our top goalie prospect (price is not young), one of our best defense prospects, our number 1 c even if he won't sign back, and a 25 yo 3rd liner potentially a 2nd liner (who knows) that was still able to clap Pittsburgh's 3rd line.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>Danault also is rumoured to have no interest in re-signing in MTL, if he is playing 3C, which is entirely likely considering they have Suzuki and JK who need more minutes. Lehkonen is a third liner. So the only part of your "future" is Primeau, and goalies are very tough to predict. I think MTL would be better off just trading Danault at deadline for a combo of picks/ prospects if they arent in playoff contention, because i doubt he is going to resign, and they could get a nice return.</div></div>
Okay that's a rumour and that doesn't make him valueless. It's also rumoured he's not happy playing 3rd line C which he would be playing in Pittsburgh as well. Goalies are tough to predict but he is our best goalie prospect and he played solid in the nhl even though it was a short sample. Lehkonen played very well in the playoffs and is amazing on the pk. I also think he is going to get better. You also ignored the fact that the return In this trade answers none of our needs, we need a LD and a goal scorer.
You also litteraly said you think "MTL would be better off just trading Danault at deadline for a combo of picks/ prospects if they arent in playoff contention" which in this trade we lose a 3rd and a 5th and we only get a 7th. We also get an old.
Letang is essentially no use for MTL in there future.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mhockey91</b></div><div>for the long term, sure, but as of right now, hes still a top D in this league and there is no denying that</div></div>
Okay I get what your saying but MTL is looking for the longish term. Lehkonen, Danault, and Primeau are a big part of our future. Especially Primeau. Sure letang would help us right away but we have weber and petry on the right side. We need Left D. Also Danault was our number 1 center. The line with Tatar, Gallagher, and him was really good.
Danault doesn't even play on the power play. He had more 5 on 5 points than bergeron. He also finished 6th in this year's selke voting.
So don't expect us to take it nicely when you give us a really good old defenceman for our future.
