(MTL/CHI) - Shaw and 2021 7th round pick for 2020 2nd, 7th round pick, and 2021 3rd round pick
I want to thank MTL for safekeeping Shaw for us. (I would have preferred if he didn't get banged up few times on your watch, but he's mostly OK).
CHI landed Shaw for 3 years and got Debrincat and Krys as compensation, and now got Shaw back at 27 years old, wow I think its a good deal.
$3.9 hit is not horrible, considering healthy he is 15-20 goals scorer.
Plus you don't really get Shaw for his 15 goal in regular season, you get him for his 5 in playoffs.
Now CHI can send AA to anyone who wants him for 3rd rounder or so, regardless of Dach's progress.

Using cap space to get some assets with Columbus
Jackets would buyout Dubi before including Anderson as the prize for taking On Dubi’s Cap dump, when the Habs would just buy him out anyway.
Jackets will have $7.4M of Bob’s salary to work with, $6M of Panarin’s, $4M from a Dubi buyout, and with Texier now ready, Wennberg’s $4.9M would be traded.
Some more of these players just may stay and sign team friendly contracts to stay together. Look at Atkinson, Jones, and Jenner’s desire to play for less to keep a good team together.
On the near horizon is Foudy, Bemstrom, Fix-Wolenski, Gavrikov, and Merzlikens. Oh, and Dubois, who has dropped out of the spotlight a bit with the emergence of Duchene. Oh, and Dubois too.
I suspect Dubois is a bit fatigued (more mentally than physically) due to the 2 long seasons he has had, and he needs to work through the grind. No, Jackets aren’t interested in trading him either.
Jackets could send you a Wennberg for what CBJ needs most, picks, say a 2nd and a 6th. Or 3rd and a 5th.

Move weise to LW, scratch Agastino put Peca as fourth line C then move Shaw onto second line RW and put Byron on fourth line. Also swap Drouin and Tatar.

(LAK / PIT) - Hagelin for Pearson
This is probably the Kings way of saying that they need more speed. Given Hagelin's status as a pending UFA, if the experiment doesn't work, they can flip him at the deadline. It's a decent plan for them, but they still didn't get enough value in this deal. While Hagelin will help out their PK, they need more goals. Hagelin is a huge downgrade from Pearson in that regard, even if Pearson hasn't gotten going yet this year.
LA is probably looking at this as Pearson isn't doing anything for them, so why not bring in someone else to help with the PK and mix things up.

Bergevin long term plan - Running for lottery once again
Yup give or take on the returns but this structure is exactly what the Habs should be doing this year.
- Get best return for Pacioretty.
- Sell off all UFA's.
- Move out any extra contracts like Schlemko for virtually any return possible.
Seems simple enough that even MB can do it.....I hope.

Bergevin wants three assets for Paches. Will be a good trade for the Hawks and Patches will be an excellent fit. He has never play with a first class center.

Something a little different
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Goldorak</b></div><div>Isn't Detroit in need to sign Larkin? They have just under 3mil to sign him and you think he will get more than Mantha.
You noticed Lucic going to Vancouver for Eriksson right?
So its Gallagher and Benn for Eriksson, Yamamoto, Samorukov, Marody, 2019 1st, 2019 3rd and 2019 6th.
If any one of those assets become as good as Gallagher, which is a high possibility, it's a win.</div></div>
You do know what LTIR is right? That will give them another 4M to play with. As for making space, Im all for it! But then move a player like Glendening for an asset back. That way, DET signs Larkin, doesn't lose draft picks and only loses Glendening whose a 4th line player anyway.
Swapping Lucic for Erickson isn't much better. You're basically only saving 1 year of 6M at the end. Nice, but still you're also assuming this is even possible. Both guys have NMC which make the odds of a trade like this very very small.
Yeah prospects are nice but Gallagher is a sure thing. How often do players drafted, score 30 goals in a year while being a catalyst for their team? Not very good odds. Marody and Samorukov are nice but there is more chance they don't become anything more than 3-4th liners then they do of matching Gallagher. So assume Gallagher would fetch a 1st and a prospect like Yamamoto in return, if sold by himself. Why would the Habs en-debt themselves by taking Lucic/Eriksson only to get two decent but not sure thing prospects and a pick back? They're also losing Benn at 50% which would itself return a draft pick at the TDL too... IMHO opinion, its not worth it. Habs are losing the best player in the deal and taking on all the financial risk. That's not how business works. At least not for those prospects. Puljujarvi on the other hand.....

(MTL / WPG) - Mason, Armia for Bourque
I can't see how anyone can defend any other response other than fair deal for both? This literally helps both teams out without screwing anyone. This trade is impossible to lose for both teams.
Habs must know they lost out on Stastny so this was essentially getting free assets for Bourque who will be a career AHL'er. Habs won't be able to use the money on a big free agent so might as well use it on cap dump to get picks and prospects back. WPG gets their cap space, everyones happy.

I’m guessing this means MTL isn’t getting Paul Stastny either lol Mason will be flipped for sure (Maybe NYI?) Armia looks like a nice addition, Habs needed more right shooting forwards.

I would not do that trade for Kempe and Pearson Pacioretty is worth way more then that . If he did that he should be fired on the spot . Not that he shouldn't be already.
