There is a season and a half left before his NMC, and it would be foolish to wait for it to take effect, then Jack will have all the leverage, and these clowns still cannot fix the sinking ship. Eichel even changed his avatar on Twitter and removed the mention that he is a Buffalo player.</div></div>
I do think they need to the cover of Ike asking out publicly.
How about Peterka to offset Newhook.

I get you. I’d be all for centering the deal around Newhook, but they would need o off set the contact value.
I’m not sure about the competition for an Ike trade, but if he asks out it will be bad.

Yep that's the stumbling block, but I don't know the appeal Kadri would have for Buffalo because he would want to leave too and Newhook + Rantanen is too much for a disgruntled Ike on his own so we've got Buffalo adding something to even it up.

So the Avalanche would trade their Captain for a 2nd and a guy they traded away last year? AND retain?!

The Avs next to 2nds are with the Islanders in the Toews trade, so I'd have to be a comparable prospect, which means someone not Barron, Timmins, Annunen or Newhook.

Pretty much. You'll have to get rid of both Donskoi and JTC in '21 and it blocks Newhook unless he can play wing.

He's got 5 years left at a pretty high rate; it would be an expensive experiment to see if he could return to being a 64 point player. And, as mentioned, he has a full NTC and has no real reason to waive it.</div></div>
Just looking at it because a fellow Avs poster is obsessed with him.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Richard88</b></div><div>Yeah I'm curious to see how the buyers market will impact our ability to move our surplus guys. On the one hand Zadorov doesn't have a contract which may work in our favour, but on the other hand his arbitration rights may put some teams off. The market could actually be good for our chances of getting a decent return on Jost though, given that he has no arbitration rights and would be a cheap young bottom 6 forward for a lot of teams.
I don't know enough about Forbort to comment, but he seems reasonably decent for a 7D. Maybe $1.5m is a little bit too much money for a 7D in a flat cap league though, we could perhaps get cheaper deals than that. But for 1 year, no problem.
Killorn and Haula would fill two positions of need so it works prety well. I would think one of Compher or Donskoi would need to make way though as it doesn't make sense to have that much money invested in the 4th line, particularly with Kaut primed for the NHL.
One other thing to consider is the bonus overages. With $5.45m overages we're probably going to have to keep at least $2m in unused capspace or else run the risk of overages leaking into 2021-22. Which is another argument in favour of moving Compher/Donskoi if we need capspace.</div></div>
Expansion draft for those guys.

Buffalo (38) or Florida (43) might present better deals though if they add a second pick as well.</div></div>

I think the buyers' market will translate to the Avalanche dumps a bit.
Forbort is cheap, big and up until this year was pretty durable.
Other than that how does the roster look? Notice it leaves $1.4M and the '21 1st for the deadline if more defense and goaltending if needed.

Yep.
Even say for those 3 RFAs for three payers it's 2.5M over, Tamp still has to clear out $10 M and needing at least around $1M for every replacement player and minimal cap space.
