<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>I think this is a pretty foolish view regarding debrusk. The guys top tool is his speed, and he just never had his legs this year. Do you think that:
1. The 24 year old just forgot how to skate? Or
2. Not having a full off-season, and having no pre-season effected him?
Seems like there’s one of those that’s pretty logical, and one that’s illogical. Give the guy a normal season, and then make the judgment.
Slater koekkoek is an analytics darling, but he’s nothing special. That’s not what the left side needs, they need a minutes eater. None of those three guys are. I love Grzelcyk, but he can’t be the guy getting the most minutes on the left side. Hence why I think suter is the perfect fit.
You’re right on Coleman. $4M is probably a stretch for him value wise, but you know he’ll get more.</div></div>
Suter wants term or I'd love him too. But I don't want a guy like him signed any longer than 2 years. If coleman rejects that offer I'd offer Vrana more so Detroit might not match it (around 6M) and sign a guy like Mathieu Perreault. Analytics darlings clearly help out teams a lot. Look at tampa. I don't think getting a big oversized D who just eats up minutes is a good idea.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>That’s a very easy match for Detroit. I also don’t see how spending 8 million (it would be more if you wanted either player) on two third line wingers while neglecting the left D helps much.
Then there’s the small issue of the team not being cap compliant when rask is ready to play.</div></div>
I agree Detroit matches that. Coleman I wouldn't want to spend 4M on but he's a back to back stanley cup winner entering free agency so he's getting overpaid. And Slater Koekkoek is a very good defenseman. Insane that he's gonna be this cheap because everyone undervalues him. For cap compliance with tuuka, just trade debrusk at the deadline. He's not a good fit with the bruins anymore. I like him and he still shows potential but playing him on the 3rd/4th line is a waste.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinnylou</b></div><div>If you move bear..that means you're keeping Barrie. Barrie is far superior than bear. Oilers and Barrie are in agreeance on money. Just term is the hard point. Which is great for Oilers. They wanna give 3 years. He wants 4. So it's better than 5/6. LoL!! But bear is okay. He didn't show up this season in good shape. Took half a season for him to finally get into the form he was the previous season. I am a bear fan. Love seeing a fellow native make it. But we need a different defender on the right side. Can't have 3 puck movers. But I'd do 1 for 1 in this trade. That's all I am saying.</div></div>
Barrie is definitely not better than Bear. Barrie had the most sheltered minutes out of any defenseman in the league and was glued to mcdrai and nurse so he racked up a ton of secondary assists. He's lost in his own zone and shoots weak muffins from the point instead of making plays. Ken Holland has completely wasted McDavid and Draisatl's primes in a single off-season with the Keith trade, losing Larsson, and resigning Barrie. If he loses Bear on top of that, Edmonton might get another lottery pick this year.

Debrusk probably does need a change of scenery. If we are giving that to him I’d prefer it was something that is a need. We have enough of them. RD is not it.</div></div>
Defensive defenseman always seem to be albatross contracts and the concussions further scare me with him. If he wasn't a complete black hole offensively I would have no problems with his contract.

100% Bouchard should step forward next season. Nurse had a great year offensively but was still bad defensively. And most of his offense came as a result of unsustainable shooting percentage. Bear is a very good 2 way defender who still has a lot of potential to improve. If they move him, which has been rumored, the team is even more ****ed

Brandon Carlo's contract is going to look really bad in a couple of years so it's better to take advantage of an awful GM in Holland and get a very good, cheap, young RD. Debrusk desperately needs a change of scenery and EDM has interest in him. I think this is a decent trade for both teams. Maybe instead of giving up a 2nd it could be a 3rd

It's definitely an overpayment but that's sorta the point. Teams always overpay in FA and hes a player you can trade

Arizona definitely declines that trade and Grzelcyk is 100% worth keeping on the team
