Fiala Trade Season Start

If the Wild want Pastujov to be the prospect, the pick attached would be the COL 2nd in 2023 at the highest if not a third
Even then I dont see the Ducks trading Pastujov, the best prospect the Ducks offer is probably Brayden Tracey</div></div>
Good one! 😂

This is not happening pure fantasy
True story: i used to be a Wild season ticket holder and I decided to let my tix go around 4-5 years ago. I just didn’t like the direction idiot owner, Craig Leipold, and lap puppy GM Chuck Fletcher were taking the team. WAY too many all-in tdl moves giving away draft picks for a team nowhere near ready to be legit Cup contenders...
Anyway, i received a call from none other than former Wild player, Wes Walz trying to convince me to keep my tickets. He told me the Wild were in talks with Pittsburgh to acquire Malkin. He asked me, (paraphrasing) “would having a top 10 player in the world on the Wild make you reconsider?” I paused, thought about it for a moment, then replied, “No! The last thing the Wild need is another old player on a long term contract...even if the player is Evgeni Malkin!” Walz said, “Really?” I said, “Yes, really!” Call me back if they trade for a super star under 25.” Walz didn’t know what to say...
So...i imagine you can guess my interest level for the Malkin trade you are proposing here...

Swap Brown for Tierney for starters in the Dumba trade. I also think a pick would have to come along.

Haha is this real? Wild don't need or want Bobby Ryan or have room for Bobby Ryan, . Wild also don't need or have room for Jonathan Ryan
Ryan Hartman has been really good 4th line winger, & played Amazingly on 1st line winger the other game. Wild aren't trading Alex stalock when he's healthy and is playing, much less thinking wild will give the 3rd round pick from Pittsburgh. @Canuck5

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>What’s the deal with this Greenway guy?</div></div>
He’s a frustrating player! He has all the tools (and then some) to be a very, very good power forward. While he doesn’t have hockey IQ in spades, he will surprise at times with very intelligent plays. What he lacks is consistency! One game, one period, one shift...he can be the most dominant force on the ice, imposing his will all over the ice...then...far, far too often, he plays soft and uninspired. He is either going to get it one day, put it all together, and be a really good 2nd line power forward, or drive coaches and fans crazy for the next 10-12 years...TBD.

I agree about moving youth, but I don’t see Parise or Zuccarello as tradable, and something clearly needs to be done to break up the log jam of left-shot wingers on this team.
Seeler would be fine if they would find another solid 2nd/3rd pairing D to absorb some minutes...basically meaning they would have 2 - 3rd pairing LHDs to play matchups with based on the situation.

Minnesota Wild signed Jared Spurgeon (7 Years / $7,575,000 AAV)
The term is not ideal, but the cap hit is perfectly fine. Spurgeon is arguably the most underrated defenseman in the league.

I love the Zucker for Risto trade and think it makes a ton of sense if the Wild decide to move Spurgeon. I think Risto and Brodin as a 2nd pairing tandem would be fantastic!!

Rebuilding - moves with PIT VGK CAR OTT
Why would a rebuilding team devalue an asset like Brodin to trade Rask? With the cap space they have, just ride out his contract and maximize the return on Brodin.
Spurgeon would probably bring in more also.

Rebuilding the Wild
I think if they traded Spurgeon, they'd prioritize getting a blue chip prospect back over a 1st round pick that likely would be 25+.
I really can't see them ever trading Koivu. I think he's a Shane Doan scenario where he retires only playing for the team that drafted him. Depending on what the new GM does, I could see them re-signing him on some 1 year deals until he's ready to hang it up.
Otherwise I'm not familiar with the prospects in the trades to say if you over or under valued someone. The frameworks at least look mostly like something the Wild would want

Spurgeon >>> Risto
Zucker >>> Nylander
And those picks and that prospect aren't nearly enough to make up for the difference.

Spurgeon is a true #1D (not my words, but a national media outlet's opinion that I agree with). That type of asset is extremely valuable. I view Nylander as a bust at this point. He has a small chance to turn it around, but I don't think he's ever more than a 3rd liner. Risto had a horrendous year, so you're selling low on him. I view him as a #3/4 D which has value, but isn't as good as a #1. I also disagree about Zucker, he's traded for peanuts every day on this site but he is one of the better even strength scorers in the league, "Zucker, one of the Wild’s fastest players, ranks tied for 47th in the NHL the past three seasons with 76 goals and tied for 34th with 60 even-strength goals." - Michael Russo, The Athletic. The fact is Fenton has come out and said he won't trade Zucker anymore unless it's a no-brainer, and Nylander for Zucker is not a no-brainer (unless you're talking about his brother, William).

Or at least counter with Victor Rask for Rasmus Dahlin while dumb offers that wouldn't be accepted are being thrown out.

You have $7m in cap space, no reason to trade the 1st round pick to dump Rask's salary. Send him to the AHL if you need the roster spot and you'd still have around $4m in cap space. Not sure of Palmieri's value, but definitely not something I'd give the 12th overall pick for. Sign a free agent if they can't get a right shot forward in a trade.
Don't like giving up a 2nd in the Calgary deal. No need to bring in a top 4 defenseman if Suter, Brodin, Dumba, and Spurgeon all stay so Zucker for Bennett with whatever picks are needed to even things out makes sense. Calgary should be adding.
And don't re-sign Aberg. He didn't work last year, so let him go unless it's a 1 year league minimum deal to send him to Iowa.

1) I'm guessing you've never seen Aberg play! He's a very talented, horrible hockey player. 2) Why would you sign anyone to that contract to have him as a healthy scratch???
