What Dallas would have to pay to match Leafs 12 x 8
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>seanrushton</b></div><div>Yah but I can see people getting into a bidding war for Nylander and him getting paid quite a lot more than what he's worth</div></div>
Yeah I think if he goes somewhere other than TO it's going to be a LOT more than most ACGMs are offering. AAV goes way up when you don't have to give up draft/player capital to acquire.
10.5-11.5 in TO
12+ somewhere else.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JG1972</b></div><div>typically when u acquire players at the deadline ur “wasting assets” if u don’t win the cup that year. they “wasted assets” on 3 or 4 months of O’reilly for him to get injured and lose in the 2nd round. it’s just the way sports work. GM’s have to take chances.
a reason Tampa had those cup runs was because their GM traded away assets because the chances of the assets actually turning into someone substantial is small. everything is up to chance.</div></div>
Again leafs decline they have plenty of forwards no real spot for him this year

Kent Johnson’s value is dropping by the day and Carson C hasent been great this year. columbus would have to throw in 2 firsts with this trade for toronto to even read the message. i would have to agree with the other comment saying Nylander probs won’t agree to a trade there anyway</div></div>
Yeah gotta think if they entertain trading him that they would get much better offer than this. Personally I hope he signs tho.

Willy conjecture getting out of hand 😂:
1/ deal will get done eventually; he’s said multiple times he wants to stay
2/ even if no deal, can’t see leafs trading him this year
3/ he has a 10 team no trade list; have to think Columbus is on it
4/ literally no chance imo he would sign there long term so why would blue jackets make this trade

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Max Domi (1 Year / $3,000,000 AAV)

The ordinary buyout window closed on June 30. The only way that Murray can be bought out now is if (1) Ilya Samsonov files for arbitration, and (2) he wins an award or settles with Toronto.
I can just picture it now: Treliving sits down at the table across from Ilya and his agent and after they're settled in, says, "You know, just idly musing here, but you know what would help us? If Ilya filed for arbitration, and then after, say, oh, I don't know, a week or so to make it look good, settled with us for the figure YOU guys want."

Tampa R1
Agreed there would be no expectations on him. This would be an ideal test of the high end skill he has, certainly with the aim of maximizing that ability he has on the puck. I think 3rd or 4th line is far more likely, that being said. Big difference is Knies has the size to withstand some of the clear issues Robertson dealt with in terms of getting himself chances. He needed to be the trigger man and couldn't do much else. Knies could at the least clog lanes, forecheck, cycle, and trigger if needs to (perhaps a 4th line slot). Love Robbie, but he wasn't set up to do that.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JG1972</b></div><div>throwing knies in come playoff time is just like what the leafs did with Robertson back in the play-in round vs. columbus.
its definitely hard for a player to come in from the NCAA and get thrown into probs one of the most brutal and dangerous playoff series he'll ever play in
id say if Knies comes in he'll play 4th line with sheltered minutes, but itd be rly cool to see him play with mitch and matthews fs</div></div>

So many Leaf fans think their Leafs prospects can step right into the NHL, and other teams bottom enders are so much better than their own.

$4.77.m current cap space
Murray on LTIR cap hit $4.68m
They need the cap space to activate him, that may be it.

If Engval gets a 3rd Rd'er, might as well try for a 2nd and 4th Rd'ers for Kerfoot and a 3rd Rd'er for Holl.
The trade market is bonkers.

Did the Leafs just spend a third to have Schenn ride the bench for them? Or are they playing McCabe on the left, and Gio on the third pair?
