LEAFS DEADLINE
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>The way Holmberg has played he shouldn't be moved. Rielly was again lost in his own zone, you would think this long in the league he would start to figure out that he doesn't chase the guy crossing the front of the net that is Bush guy to leave the backdoor play wide open. He has the least d-zone IQ of any d-man on the team.</div></div>
Totally agree with this. To be fair, he is a great OFD with a big emphasis on his offence. He definitely performs in the playoffs in terms of scoring but people completely disregard just how horrible he is on his own end. For years the Leafs have been looking for the perfect RD alongside Rielly and they found Brodie. Now, Brodie is having a terrible year but to be fair not a lot of defenseman are going to look great when you have Rielly bringing you down; that’s how BAD he is on defence.

Andersson is a solid defensive player and Rielly isn't anywhere near as bad as some are saying when it comes to defense.

Obviously this isn't enough for Andersson but yeah Rielly isn't dreadful defensively, just better offensively

Guessing at Contracts 2024-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JG1972</b></div><div>Funny how VAN ACGM’s r the same as the TOR used to be with the “Mikheyev - anywhere” trades</div></div>
It was the same with Garland last year until him Joshua and Blueger formed a very consistent line. Mikheyev hasn't regained his speed yet from his ACL tear and hopefully next year if not dealt with rebound and be better but if Van wants to make salary room it's really down to Garland or Mikheyev to move out and Garland has been more useful to the team. But if it's paying to get rid of them I don't think Allvin will do it.

Leafs trade deadline
So Treliving is the ultimate manipulator where he somehow convinces Carolina to give us a 2nd rounder for a defenseman that they don't need ( the major strength of Carolina is their defense) and will also never play a game for them. (Klingberg is gone for season and playoffs)
Wow, why hasn't anyone else scooped up Treliving. He has instantly become the world greatest general manager in sport. Blue Jays needs him and Ujiri better step aside because Treliving needs to run the Raptors too. Can probably get Williamson, Lebron etc... for half the salary and maybe only a 2nd round pick!

Montreal could use a warm body on the D Line, all it takes is a 1st round pick haha

I really like Monahan, I think hes a great player and will fit in nicely in Winnipeg.
At the same time though, the Habs FLEECED the Jets. How do they manage to win every trade involving Monahan? Investing so much in a guy who has battled significant injuries is ridiculously risky

(MTL/WPG) - Monahan for 2024 1st (WPG), 2027 3rd (WPG)
In a vacuum, this is a fair deal. A 1st and a 3rd for the second best forward available (after Lindholm) would be good during most trade deadlines. However, Montreal was paid a 1st to take him and then signed him to a reasonable contract and then traded him away for another first and a third. Yeah, they WIN the overall transaction, even though Winnipeg are not the losers here. Calgary is certainly the loser here.

Doesnt That Look Nice
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JG1972</b></div><div>I don’t think Boone Jenner and David J r the answers especially considering the amount we’d be giving up for them in this scenario. I highly highly doubt Boone is even worth a first. He’s a mediocre player at best</div></div>
I don't either, but enough Leafs fans on here seem to think otherwise that I figured it's at least worth poking a little fun. Boone and Jiricek aren't going anywhere, so the actual value is irrelevant. But...at a bare minimum he's definitely worth at least the Foligno return (1st and 4th), considering he's a center with similar leadership and grittiness qualities, at half the cap hit, 3x the term, and better production at the time of the trade despite playing 75% of the games.

TB laughs hysterically and hangs up here's why:
1) Savard skates like an oak tree.
2) TB Doesn't the cap space to buy the team kids a Happy Meal.
3) If they thought he was worth that he'd be wearing blue and white lightning bolt ⚡ already.

kanes a bit cold at the moment, and isnt playing as well with leon as he was in games prior. knoblauch tried a line of mcleod-draisaitl-foegele in the new york game and they seemed to click. mcleod and foegele have previous chemistry and draisaitl on that line makes them that much better. you also have a top line in the league with RNH-Connor-Hyman, so you dont want to split them up. until kane can get his game back fully, stick him on the 3rd line and have him play hard, physical minutes to work his way back up
