Doesnt That Look Nice

Created by: CaseyFlyman

Description
Mostly doing this to troll Leafs fans.

Disclaimer: Jenner and Jiricek aren't available. It would take a massive overpay to land Jenner, and Toronto simply doesn't have the pieces to land Jiricek. We'd need a young 1RD coming back, since we're shipping out the only guy in the organization who fits that potential.

The Leafs window to compete is now, and they need middle-6 forwards and a 1RD for cheap. You get both here at ~$4.7M for 3 or more runs at the Cup. You don't lose a roster player aside from Reaves, and you have plenty of cap space to work with to resign your guys, sign free agents, or make additional moves going forward (~$20M this offseason, ~$50M next). What do you need futures for?

I mean...you're basically hoping that Jiricek and Jenner are the missing pieces to a cup because they'll have absolutely 0 assets to either fill from within or use in other deals moving forward

Yes, that's absolutely the assumption. The only other option would be free agency, which would theoretically be fine given Toronto would have cap space again (especially after Tavares' current deal expeires). And you'd be looking for auxiliary pieces anyway (2LD, depth D, bottom-6 forwards, and a backup goalie).

I don’t think Boone Jenner and David J r the answers especially considering the amount we’d be giving up for them in this scenario. I highly highly doubt Boone is even worth a first. He’s a mediocre player at best

I don't either, but enough Leafs fans on here seem to think otherwise that I figured it's at least worth poking a little fun. Boone and Jiricek aren't going anywhere, so the actual value is irrelevant. But...at a bare minimum he's definitely worth at least the Foligno return (1st and 4th), considering he's a center with similar leadership and grittiness qualities, at half the cap hit, 3x the term, and better production at the time of the trade despite playing 75% of the games.
