Having plenty of picks is a feature, not a bug. They are not trading assets to chase the final wild card spot each year. They can sign a UFA of equivalent value without parting with draft compensation. This would be a hard no.

The Flyers are in a rebuild. Perbix for a 3rd rounder provides negative value for a rebuilding (or, frankly, any) team.

I actually don't mind the trade for the Flyers. Think it could be a good change of scenery trade for both core players.

Bad Contract Swap
The Flyers should do this in a heartbeat. Skinner's contract comes with way less risk than Couturier's, even if the cap hit is bigger over the next three seasons.

Flyers - Next Phase of Competitive Rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buffbry</b></div><div>Take Danielson out and it's closer, otherwise flyers add konecny, it's that far off</div></div>
So two cap dumps and Detroit's ~10th best prospect (Buium) for Farabee, Frost (two middle 6 (and potentially top 6) forwards, one of which is a center) and Ristolainen (with retention) is what you consider fair value? I can understand Detroit saying no to Danielson (even if he's not even a consensus top 40 drafted NHL prospect according to some evaluations (https://theathletic.com/5303482/2024/03/04/top-nhl-prospects-2024-matvei-michkov/)), but then they need to offer other prospect(s) and pick(s) with value.

Next year
Fairly certain the Flyers will be the ones giving up picks to dump Peterson and Johansen. This is a pipe dream.

Offseason
Flyers decline. Why would a rebuilding team trade real assets for a bottom sixer on the last year of his deal?

2024 Flyers
That Johansen trade makes the Sean Walker return look a lot worse. There is no reason for a rebuilding team like the Flyers to trade a valuable asset (a 3rd) rather than just eat the last year of that deal.

Flyers 2024-25
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AntiAnalytics</b></div><div>Idk that the Sabres would trade Kulich- probably not

I agree that parting with Kulich (as opposed to Ostlund, Rosen or another prospect) would be the key negotiation in any potential Konecny to Buffalo trade. I'm not sure the Flyers would make the trade if it was centered around a different player. I also take your point re: giving a long term deal to a forward, but don't necessarily agree. Konecny is currently a better player than Mittelstadt and I'm also not sure Buffalo trades him if a player of Byram's caliber doesn't come back in the deal. Buffalo needs to generate more goals and has a plethora of good forward prospects it can cash in while maintaining a strong prospect pipeline to offset bigger contracts over the next few years.

Flyers 2024 Offseason
I couldn't think of a great landing place for Frost and candidly do not have a good sense of his value around the league. Re Konecny, he's a really good player and I think he could play a significant role for a contender, but the Flyers already have a number of players they've committed to long term who don't fit the timeline and haven't necessarily lived up to their deals (in the first few years of the deals, let alone the latter half, which will be a disaster), and TK can return good value in a trade. The Flyers should be wary to lock him up long term, but it would be wise to chase NHL young talent, rather than just draft capital, if you can find a contender willing to push its chips in for a Cup run over the next few years.
