Anaheim Ducks signed Adam Henrique (5 Years / $5,825,000 AAV)
He’s making only $150,000 less a year than Mark Scheifele who is a million times better than Henrique lmao!!!!

New York Rangers signed Jimmy Vesey (2 Years / $2,275,000 AAV)
Anyone remember the hype around this kid? This is why I never get excited about signing those older college FA's. 3rd liner at best.

Washington Capitals signed Tom Wilson (6 Years / $5,166,667 AAV)
Paying a guy based on one good playoff run is how the Blackhawks ended up overpaying Bryan Bickell.
Paying a guy based on grit and one good season and a half is how the Leafs ended up overpaying David Clarkson.
The Caps just did both with one player, and he wasn't even a UFA. It doesn't help that he's good for around 150 PIM every season and he averages 2 PIM every game.
Now they have to anchor him to Ovechkin and Kuznetzov's line in order to get $5.1 million worth of production out of him.

Lucic was a consistent 50-point player when he signed that deal, and was also a Cup winner. He was THE premier power forward. Wilson's BEST season is equivalent to Milan's WORST.

Tom Wilson’s biggest hit thrown is now to the Capitals salary cap

This guy is making more than Jonathan Marchessault and Sean Couturier...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sleeping0ut1992</b></div><div>Wilson looked really good on the first line last season and especially good during the Cup run, if he's able to play the same way he had been the last few months than this deal is maybe a slight overpay, but if he can't replicate that success than this deal could turn out to be really bad. But irregardless Caps are Cup champs so of course they're gonna overpay their core like every other team does (See: Toews, Seabrook, Brown, Hornqvist, etc...)</div></div>
You can't put Wilson in the same conversation of those guys. Even Hornqvist. One thing is overpay for a talented players or your leader and captain, like Brown. Other is overpay for a goon who had one good season in his career. Even if this season helped to lead his team to the cup.
Besides, look at the term. It's even worse. If Washington wanted to overpay him, they should offer 2 or 3 years at most. 6 years with that salary is the greatest joke of the season.
