NYI moves
Nashville has no reason to do that, and Palmeri isn’t waiving.
Trade a 1st for Dunn is a massive waste of an asset.

Buying out Ladd is beyond a bad move. You save 700K. Can save more by sending him to the AHL.

What do the 1st Place Islanders do this Off Season
Couple things: don't think they'll go an entire offseason without making a significant addition. They got worse: who replaces Eberle? (Please don't say JHS) Lehner got too many years - especially with Sorokin rumored to want to come over next year. Toews > Mayfield and Hickey. Wouldn't sit

Trade Deadline Cup Push
I don't see Columbus taking that trade and likely not moving him within their own division. If he re-signed, I wouldn't mind it at all but I'd still prefer they stay as is and just try to sign him in the offseason so that no prospects are given up.

Buy at the deadline but sell pieces not viewed as long term solutions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jcarlos12</b></div><div>definitely well done!!! on the LA Kings trade, would it be better to offer those pieces maybe an extra pick for Muzzin? I love Toffoli and can replace Eberle for another year which is great. But an extra big top 4 Dman would be solid...thoughts?</div></div>
I think the scoring aspect is more important down the stretch. Muzzin is good too don't get me wrong. But in Trotz system it *appears* simple enough where anyone can thrive. I'm all for upgrading defense but in this scenario would chase a forward. Maybe find a way to expand the LA trade to accomplish both?

genuinely fair deal for EK
A trade with Karlsson and Ryan is worth LESS to a team than a trade with Karlsson alone. (It's basically a cap dump plus a fourth-liner.) I wish Ottawa guys would realize and accept this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jcarlos12</b></div><div>unfortunately Eberle and Lee will get $7M+ a year in the offseason</div></div>
Lee could fetch $8m I think, while Eberle will get an identical $6m. That would push his career earnings up near $80m, which would make him one of the highest paid players ever.

Possible Moves?
I Def like the team but I just don't see CBJ trading panarin unless they are out of the playoff picture. Both Panarin and Bobrovsky are likely out next year so this is really their last year to take a run at it.
Assuming they are willing to trade Panarin, I don't want to give up bellows. I'd give up toews before bellows. with Barzal and Lee due to make good money shortly you're gonna need high talent, low cost kids to come in and fill out the roster. he was an absolute beast in the W last year and has improved every year since hes been drafted and I think its a mistake to trade him away.
as for the Duchene trade I think you could not pay anyone to take dal colle at this point but other than that I think thats the right value.

BIGGGG overpayment for KlefBOOM!
Bellows + Nelson +2nd should be wayyyy enough but Edm need some D...
Try: Bellows + Leddy for Klefbom seems more reasonnable... and sign back DeHaan (4x4M) you will be fine with your LHD
and keeping your 2x1st for BIG C + BIG D (Hayton + Dobson)

Why do you keep giving up a Kings ransom for Klefbom in these things? A first and a second is so much more reasonable

His contract is up at season's end. All this does is ensure that Isles get to negotiate with him and he agrees to come on board to facilitate the trade

I think that's pretty reasonable, but buying out Clutter is more likely. Has a modest hit (sub $600k) against the cap and we wouldn't have to give up picks for someone else to take him

MTL blockbuster Tavares stays
Barzal just had an 85 pt season as a rookie.
Only 18 players have scored more in their rookie season in the entire history of the NHL. Only Crosby, Ovechkin and Malkin have done it the post 2000 era.
The last time a MTL player scored 85 or more was over 20 years ago.
A Montreal player has never scored more than 71 points in their rookie season.
Im not going to actually comment anything else. If the above hasn't convinced you already why this trade will never happen, then nothing I can say will.

The value is probably not far off, but Buffalo doesn't really need a Top 4 RD. They need a top LD (Nick Leddy).

$900K and short 2-3 roster players. You should not be OK with this trade at all.</i></div></div>
Seriously. That's a downgrade. Miller ,Burrows and Sbisa are the Canucks 3 worst contracts. It'd be like the Isles sending Vancouver Kulemin, Grabovski and Halak........... Not sure what era your living in Jcarlos? This trade 5 years ago? Ok, makes sense. Not now.</i></div></div>
I think it definitely does. you clear cap space for next year when you would still have Bailey and Halak on the books. yes you lose strome, ok, but you can replace him with Barzal. They still may put Grabovski on LTIR. how he's even placed in this line up is the only thing that I don't agree with. I like the depth of having Sbisa, but the only thing is, Pulock has to be in the Top 6 that all I am saying.</i></div></div>
Oh don't get me wrong, i understand why your doing it. Its just that this trade is completely unnecessary. As much as you may think the guys you are trading have little value, they actually do. At worst case scenario, you can trade all 3 of these guys individually and get a better return than what your listing above from Vancouver.
Hell, Vancouver should be giving <strong>you</strong> a 1st rounder as a sweetener in order to make this trade feasible for both teams. I think your over valuing the idea of having cap space going forward a little too much. There are better and cheaper options available to you.
