Probably not over 3.5, what he got this year. Though still productive af, his age is starting to show a bit and with the emergence of all the young forwards, his role in the offense will continue to diminish.

Bourque is NHL ready and needs to be in the top 9, as well as Dadonov will be healthy. He is close to returning now. Pretty steep price on Pavs as well.

He is alright as a backup, but with Oetter’s struggles getting someone who can serve as more of a 1B than a backup may be very helpful. It really depends on how Oetter plays in the playoffs. If his struggles continue then they need to look at an insurance plan.

Offseason Series - HAWKS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>My point was that the only way the Hawks take on yet another overpaid bottom 6 forward from another team is if that team pays the Hawks to do it. Ask yourself what possible reason the Hawks would have to give up anything to add Faksa? Hint. There isn't one.</div></div>
So it sounds like we were both just looking at it from our own team’s perspective. I admittedly am not super familiar with Chicago’s needs.
For me it’s obvious Stars don’t need to pay extra to get rid of a player they don’t need to get rid of, who is still extremely effective in his role. For the hawks, IF Faksa were to get moved it’s obvious Chicago isn’t a fit.

Offseason Series - HAWKS
Stars don’t need to move him and I never said they did. This thread is the one that suggested it. I was only saying that if they did move him, they don’t need to throw anything in with him to get him moved.
My point with retention and moving him is from the point of the team that would be flipping him.
And I already said Faksa was overpaid by about a million. He would be perfect value at around $2-2.2 million, so I don’t know why you have to “put it out there” that he isn’t worth 3.25

Wow, learn to read my guy. With salary retained he would be making around $1.6 mil, a great price for Faksa. He is also on his last year of a contract, so retaining team doesn’t have to worry about it past next year. If Duhaime can get a third, then Faksa should easily be able to.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Hawks aren't paying anything for Faksa. Stars pay the Hawks to take him. The UFA signings aren't too impressive either. This would be a disappointing off season, even for the Hawks.</div></div>
It’s hilarious people think this. Stars don’t need to pay anyone to take him. Faksa is an elite defensive center who is perfect in a shutdown role. He is only overpaid by about $1 mil. A 6th or 7th round draft pick for him from a seller is a good deal as you can flip him with salary retained at the deadline. With what some of the bottom six forwards got this TDL, a third round pick wouldn’t be out of the question.

One year retention does nothing for the Senators, especially since they’ll probably be sellers again next year. Good luck getting anything better, unless the selling rate in the D market strongly improves or Chychrun learns to shoot right you aren’t getting a huge package

Not even close? Lmao, how much you think he is worth? That is equivalent to a first and 2 seconds, much better of a return than anything Ottawa got at the TDL. Adding much more wouldn’t even be worth it, not close

They don’t need to move anything with Faksa to ship him out, there will be teams willing to take him on for a late round pick. He is a defensively elite 4th line center who can be moved next deadline with salary retained for around $1.6 mil. That will be valuable for a contender come TDL next year.

At this point I think Nill will only move Bourque or Bischel if the return is ridiculous. I think he only gets involved if it’s some off the board trade for a young RHD that will be part of the core and a permanent partner for Harley or Miro.

I like this trade a lot, would definitely do. Only change to actual D pairing maybe to move Savard onto line with Harley, that way the bottom two pairings each have a younger D paired with a veteran.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ht42</b></div><div>Can I make a similar trade, but with the Habs for Evans and Savard ?</div></div>
Montreal is about the only other team I think they would be willing to do a move like this with, at least out of teams with a top 4 RHD available. As long as the salary can work where the Stars are able to carry at least an extra forward and defenseman, then I think they should do it.
Just hope Savard’s visa process goes quicker than Tanev’s did.

I don’t see the Stars using a 1st for a 4th line center when they have two already (Faksa and Steel). If they are parting with a first, it will be for a top 4 defenseman

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ClockReads2113</b></div><div>Dowd alone is 1st worthy, so if you want Caps to take back an overpaid 4th liner it will cost extra.</div></div>
Faksa is barely overpaid and a smart GM with a slot for cap retention next year could easily flip him for $1.6 mil (or around $800k with double retention) for a nice pick. A defensively elite 4th line center is a valuable piece to a contender. I mean if you thing Dowd at $1.3 is worth a 1st, then Faksa at $1.6 is worth at least a 3rd

Dowd isn’t worth a first, especially when he is a minuscule upgrade over Faksa, who is a perfect 4th line forward in a shut down role. Only reason to trade Faksa is to make room for a big acquisition, not Dowd.

Can play around with the players you mentioned to make it work, maybe Bischel instead of Bourque but improve a pick.
Faksa and Hakanpää make cap work. Hakanpää is a body for the right side only signed through this year. Faksa is signed next year, but both players Arizona is retaining salary on end this offseason. They can easily retain half on Faksa next year and selling a defensively elite 4th line center (defense being only thing he is elite at, but still valuable to a playoff team) for around $1.6 mil should be able to net them another asset next TDL.
