Oh boy this is all sorts of bad

1. Nylander nets a first at minimum and likely a player and 1st even without an extension.

2. Why would the hawks give up a 2nd rounder for simek when they likely could get a 1st (may have to give up a 3rd) to take on Murray.

Nice attempt but this won't work for at least 2/3 of the teams.

It also doesn't work for Toronto as they won't be looking to take back the same salary for Willie in any trade.

Leafs decline. This doesn't solve their cap issue. If Nylander is traded, it will be to a team who is either A/) willing to take Murray as well or B) willing to give up a decent player on a cheaper contract less than 4M.

If you.proposed Zadorov and a 1st then maybe but the leafs aren't taking on 2 UFAs for Willie and adding to their cap

Leafs pass. They aren't going to move two decent value contracts just to add Foligno and a fringe prospect to still have to make a move to get cap compliant. Now if the wild took on Murray's contract, the leafs likely would strongly consider

Robertson likely still has late 3rd/4th round value.

That being said, this doesn't help the leafs cap. I actually don't think it's a horrible trade for the Peg. Samsonov who they can sign long term + a 1st is a decent offer and then adding a cheap Timmins and Robinson as lottery tickets is the kind of move they should make.
