An Interesting Offseason
The OIlers cannot give up two roster players for JG. Sure he is an upgrade in the top 6, but that leaves them holes in the 3rd and 4th lines. Take Mcleod out and swap in one of Lavoie or Savoie.

Foegey
Why do people want to give up two first rounders and a guy who is scoring at a similar pace to Eberle for Eberle? Huge overpay.

PIT blockbuster
That trade makes no sense from an Oiler POV. Weaken the right side of the blueline to slightly upgrade the left side (which is already the deeper side)
Take out Petterson and the two fourths, and one of Holloway or Broberg and the second 1st and do the trade for JG straight up for player and the two picks.
Anything more than that and the OIlers would be wise to look elsewhere for a forward upgrade. Especially with JG getting hurt last night.

Jake Trade That I Would Not Hate
That is the equivalent of 3 first round picks and our number 2 Right shot D man for 20 games of Guentzel. Hard pass from this Oiler fan. It creates more holes than it fills.
I would do a 1st, Broberg and one of (A second rounder, Raph Lavoie or Carter Savoie). The second prospect/pick would be included for the Pens to retain salary.
Anything more than that and I would look elsewhere if I were the Oilers.

Oilers would take that deal. Though they might want to send Ceci back in the deal unless they can move him somewhere else.

It would make sense
Laughton isn't enough of an upgrade on Foegle to expend that kind of capital.

fixing this
Easy pass for the Oilers. Broberg either gets traded in a package for a top 6 winger or a top 4 right D man, or in a move to get Campbell off the books... or the Oilers keep him and he plays on the 3rd pair next season. No way they trade him for two picks with a 5% chance of panning out as NHLers.

2022 2023 Edmonton Oilers
So the Oilers give up a legitimate PP QB style NHL D-man for 2 middling prospects that may or may not ever work out, AND, they send 2 2nds and 2 3rds? NO WAY Edmonton makes a move like that.
They could trade Barrie for a 3rd pairing right shot D-man and a mid to late round pick, and gain cap room at the same time.
