David Savard is not worth anywhere close to that much. On a good team he is a third pair D-man. He does not move the needle for Edmonton, especially at that cost.

Where would Brodie fit on the Oilers? A second round pick would be better spent on acquiring Right shot D men or forward depth.

Maybe he is better. He is not enough better to net your a first round pick. He netted Detroit a fourth 3 years ago at the trade deadline, and played on the Lightenings 3rd pair. He is 3 years older now.
His career stats are very similar to Ceci, and he has been injury prone.
No way I would pay a first for him.

Not sure that Savard is much more than a lateral move on Ceci. Sell me on why the Oilers would pay a first rounder plus Ceci?
What am I missing that Savard brings to the table that he would move the needle for the Oilers?

Those players dont move the needle for Edmonton, so makes no sense for the Oilers.

I think Edmonton needs to add a second round pick or a prospect like Savoie to that deal, plus a late round pick to whomever they bring in to help retain.

potential ideal TDL
The Oilers cannot trade Vinnie for two reasons.
1) He makes under 1 mil which fits with the Oilers Cap situation
2) They do not have a right shot d-man to replace him.
If Vinnie is a lynch pin of the deal for Boston I cannot see how Edmonton could make that work with their cap.

Oilers would likely have no interest in Ghost. Kulak is better defensively and there is no place on the PP for him which is where he needs to be. Sprong on the other hand could be a fit as a plan B move for the Oilers if they strike out on their bigger targets.

Actually I think something like that would be palatable to Edmonton, but There would have to be 50% retention on the part of Ottawa in order for Edmonton to make the money work.

You bet he is. And if they could include Campbell then they would not need the retention (or they could include a later pick for retention if they wanted to go that way. I think with an extension for Buch I would be very happy to include another pick.

I dont know that the Oilers have the cap space to sign Buch long term. It will all depend I guess on what they do with Campbell.

What I mean by that is he is middle of the pack for top 6 winger. In other words. A good, but not necessarily great player.
I would certainly take him on my team, but not at the cost of 2 players who are, or will be NHLers with plenty of upside and a first round pick.
Your mileage may vary, and that is fine.

8th overall
Broberg is NHL ready, playing top pair minutes in the AHL. I personally would rather see him on our 3rd pair next season then moved for a rental, and I think Oiler management looks at it the same way.

No kidding. 3 Firsts/equivalent for 20 games of a midlevel talent top 6 winger. Take out Broberg and and Holloway and add one of the none NHL Forwards like Lavoie or Bourgault, and then add a 3rd team to retain salary. Paying any more than that should be a fireable offence for a GM.
Or....
Add Jack Campbell from the Oilers and leave the deal the way it stands now.

That is an easy no from the Oilers. They only have 3 NHL Right shot D-men, they are not going to trade one for a journeyman winger who doesn't move the needle for them

Un-Educated Oilers TDL
The Nashville trade makes no sense from an Oilers perspective. Carrier is a downgrade on Ceci. If the other two trades went as you have them, then the OIl would simply bury 2 players (Gagner and Brown say) in the AHL and have the cap space to keep Ceci and Vinnie as well as still having Broberg.
The other two the Oil would probably do, though at that cost I would at least try to get Dowd included in the deal!!

These trades make no sense for any of the teams involved. Edmonton would be left with one Right shot D man and 5 left shot. While Columbus would be the opposite.

Close to fair value, but Broberg wont be moved in a trade for a Rental. Plus Ottawa has less leverage than they would like because Tarasenko is only going to accept trades to certain teams which hurts their negotiating position.
