Bad teams do make bad trades and no the return is not attractive but there have also never been rumors about caufield getting traded zegras on the other hand has had plenty of rumors and if Anaheim wants to trade him there must be reason so that will lower his value if you look at the pld trade from last year LA gave way too much even with everything surrounding him and it came back to bite them so if zegras is on the market Id be willing to make a trade for him but im not going to overpay

I mean this is all just speculation and I think if this was done with any player on any team the fans of the team would not go for it without an overpay but trades like this do happen look the deal for dach or even the mark stone trade to vegas it can happen espically when the team doesnt like player or when the players value is really which seems to be zegras's situation right now

Im actually not happy about getting rid of our 2025 first I think its a risky move considering our teams injury history, the fact that we have been bottom 5 for the last 3 season and since zegras had a horrible season then adding the other assets on top makes it even more risky

yes but zegras had an awful year his value is as low as ever and if pat verbeek doesnt think zegras will be a part of the future for Anaheim then you wont get back as much as you think you should

No impact piece, no Zegras, we don't care how many first round equivalent pieces you throw, we don't care how many late 1st round picks you throw.
6OA + Beck + Kovacevic
Reinbacher + 25 2nd
Slafkovsky
Select one with no modifications, or no Zegras trade.</div></div>
So you dont think the habs 2025 first and second with no protections winnipegs first and the habs third this year with some other decent prospects could be impactful barron and farrell are still very young with lots of time to develop those picks could be high next year if the habs dont significantly improve and anderson could bounce back with Anaheim since he'll fit their system much better

Anderson can certainly bounce back he just doesn't fit the habs style which is why he struggled and hes there to make the money work barron has shown flashes of being a good dman and farrell could be flipped but in this situation if Anaheim doesnt believe that the habs will improve they could essentially get a high first two late firsts and a second on top of the other prospects added here and if anderson has a bounce back season he could also be flipped for assets but if not he only has three years left which will be up at the start of Anaheims contention window

yes but who could you possibly move to make cap space and who will you call up. Any move made where you move multiple pieces with cap hits above league min will possibly fill one hole but just create another

Savard is not a lateral move he has been known as a good stay at home defenseman and is having a career year despite how bad the habs have been meanwhile ceci is maybe slightly better than he has been in the past but he is playing on a team that has a chance at good playoff run you just admitted that he is barely above 50% is below team average and is the spot you need an upgrade the most

You're basing your argument around Ceci's play 5 years ago as well, since Pittsburgh he has been a lot better and matured into his game.
Savard isn't what most fans would hope the Oilers go for, he's ok but about the same as Ceci, no real reason to make a move there.</div></div>
Your best assets are late firsts and a prospect that have middle six potential and in terms of cap the team you trade with would need to retain 50% just to have a hope of making anything work

We need a Ceci upgrade but Savard isn't that, they're pretty much equals.
We may want Allen but tbh Pickards been great, until he starts playing poorly as our backup I don't see a reason in changing that.
If we're going to move 2 firsts and a prospect we'll be trying to get a substantial upgrade on Ceci.</div></div>
Edmonton doesnt have the cap space or assets to make a trade for a massive upgrade on ceci but savard is definitely an upgrade on ceci he is a former cup winner, hes better defensively, has a significantly higher ppg and is having a career year

I dont give nurse the full credit I think edmonton has been a poor defensive team for years now and have not addressed it in a substantial way. edmonton wins by outscoring their opponents in spite of their defense and goaltending

Savard has only 2 less points in half the games and is better defensively while Kovacevic has 2 more points in 2 less games and is 6'5 not to mention edmonton gets the 1b goalie they have been looking for. savard has the same point production as ceci in half the games is better defensively. No team in the league would trade edmonton a 2nd to take on ceci's contract I have a hard time believing any team would even take him for free

Kovacevic is worth like a 3rd maybe a 2nd so maybe you get a 1st for him + Allen. So you are about a 1st off</div></div>
How in the world is ceci worth a 2nd he has 13 points in 45 games and is poor defensively not to mention hes making 3.25 mil for the next two seasons and desharnais is basically worth nothing. I agree with what you said about kovacevic being worth a 2nd or a third and I think allen is worth a second but hes retained at 50% for 2 years which increases his value a lot and id say savard is worth a second and a third especially for a poor defensive team like edmonton who is looking to make a run. that means montreal would be trading what is effectively a first, 2 seconds and 2 thirds for a prospect whos probably worth about a third, ceci who I still believe has negative value and two late firsts

No I doubt it 10 mil is his asking price but that is definitely inflated since he plays one the leafs who give out 10 mil contracts like its candy but most teams dont have the cap for it and of the teams that do either wont go after him or are a small market or suck which are all things he wont likely be interested in. This is a negotiation tactic for nylander he starts at a high price the team starts at a low price and eventually they meet somewhere in the middle so I think only 500,000 under his asking price is fair

I think he would tbh no team in league except mb chicago and san jose would give nylander 10+ mil it would be a large overpay and ik Toronto definitely wont be paying him that cuz they wont have the money unless they are ok with having even less depth then they do now which is not a lot already so I see no reason as to why he wouldnt want to join a young and up and coming team like the habs where he'd still be super famous still get his brand deals and have a chance at the cup cuz we both know the leafs aint winning it anytime soon

Idk if you've heard but recent mock trades for edmonton to get monty have been a first and a top prospect because edmonton is so desperate it does not matter what his league wide value is its how much will edmonton pay which that seems to the price and so that leaves savard with 875,000 retained for 2 years a third and a fourth for holloway and foegele which I think is very fair if not an overpay on montreals end espically considering how much edmonton also needs a defender
