Quoting: yikes

I think the point is:

Kuch 9.5 = worth about 10-11m = arguably the best winger in the game VS Matthews 11 = worth it = franchise player, top player
Point 9.5 = fair value = an elite performer and solid playoffs VS Marner 11 = meh/ bad = elite player
Hedman 7 = steal = best D VS Rielly 7.5 = great contract = great player
Vasi 9.5 = solid value = best G VS Nylander 6.9 = amazing value = amazing player
Stammer 8.5 = meh = great player VS Tavares 11 = meh/ bad = great player

With the only player on Tampa needing a new contract is Stammer. Everyone else is locked up long term.

You've got Kucherov's historic playoff record so he gets the edge. Simple. Matthews hasn't done anything near what Kucherov has done. Matthews regulars seasons literally don't matter (and Kuchs regular seasons have been better than elite as well). Vasi and Hedman build you an elite backend and blow Nylander and Rielly out of the water. Marner VS Point is close but again; Point gets the edge due to playoff performance. Kuch Point are close to Matthews Marner but Kuch and Point are millions cheaper and have carried their team in the playoffs.

And so the Leafs dynamic stars cost more and are "worse" objectively. Subjectively its quite close. But when you're looking at the facts; Kucherov has put up numbers no one has in decades, Point was close to a conn smythe, Vasi is the worlds best goalie plain and simple, and Hedman is close enough to Rielly's OFD value but he's way way way way way better overall to make it not even and argument. Nylander just draws the short straw to matchup with Vasi but Nylander is very talented. I mention Stammer and Tavares last and honestly it may be equal; but one guys doing to the HOF and the other isnt.

I think this is a pretty good way of putting it.

Quoting: aadoyle

Like what happened with Washington a breakout will come. People were saying the same thing about Ovie, Kuznetsov, and Backstrom.

Whats being seen now in Toronto was being seen by the Caps back in 2017-2018 and fans were starting to lose their patience heck this reporter went on a rant remind you of anything.

And at times during the run it looked scary as Columbus and Tampa looked on the verge of ruining the run but they rallied past it. Even in between those two you had one of the most dreaded matchups in the second round which might as well been a 1st round knock out for the caps. That matchup was with the Penguins who often had fun against them

Couldn't find the tweets about caps fans panicking about facing penguins for the millionth time in the second round as they were ready for a loss and lets be real if they lost that series major changes were coming.

Heck if we go to Tampa the rally for the 2 cups came after tying an NHL record then getting embarrassed by Columbus in round 1 (check urinating trees video = https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kz3lq6HUdGc and listen to what was said "they aint winning with this core" but they did it a year later and then again in less than a year.)

he made legacy of failure video of the caps then we won the cup. He is great at jinxing
