Thread:
Can this team win the cup
This is... an interesting squad. I like it! I personally envision their season going as the 2017-18 Knights’ did, but if Anderson is relatively competent, at least enough to make Josi’s support a positive asset, there’s a truckload of talent up front to get them there, if everything goes normally. Of course, this is the NHL, so “normally” almost never happens. But still, they could have a good chance to get the three extra wins the Knights couldn’t and win it all.

Dubois and Patty Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>If Kane "wants to win", why would Columbus be a choice?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheAlien</b></div><div>I wouldn't wanna trade a young 1C and a pretty good goalie for an ageing winger even if it is Kane.</div></div>
Not OP, but Columbus honestly looks like a stellar team up front, with a few gaps in the defense. If they could strengthen the blue line, they’d be contenders. Also, trust me, a single prospect is worth Kane. Bobrovsky leaving, however, is a bit tougher to reconcile. While we would take him in a heartbeat since our goalie depth is horrid, that leaves about a million dollars to find another keeper, as the roster couldn’t even play with only Merzlikins in the position. I’d assume the plan would be to “reset” the goaltending staff and restock with two new goaltenders, with Pickard maybe being one(?).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>They have 3 guys on LTIR. Kucherov, Nilsson, and Gaborik. Once Tampa reaches the upper limit of the cap ($81.5M) those contracts act as a pool that they're allowed to go over that much. Hence the $97M cap hit</div></div>
Yeah, fair enough lol. I kinda want to backtrack by saying that the title wasn’t meant to be taken too seriously, but that’s a coward’s way out. Thanks for the knowledge! :)

Where do they finish
If I had to guess, they’d get to about the Conference Semis or Finals with an average coach, due to a small weakness in goaltending and *relatively low star power. They could probably get to the Cup Finals and even win if Taylor Hall brings the team together and Raanta steps up like he did for the ‘Hawks in 2015.
*This isn’t necessarily a bad thing! That usually makes a team fun to create, and inspires originality. Besides, this is someone who saw the rise, peak, and fall of the 2010’s Blackhawks, so I might even be underestimating the power of the team. After all, each team does need role player-tier players. (Unless you’re me, a shameless schmuck who just snipes Chara, Thornton, Spezza, etc. for about $750,000 on average.) Honestly, this is a really good team! :)
