<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>He’s very solid. I’ve wanted him on the wild for years now. He’s good on faceoffs, plays with a nasty edge but not cheap, natural goal scorer, good hands. For his contract, he’s incredibly desirable. FWIW, I’ve put proposals that have dumba + 1st for Dvorak, and ppl still say no. So I’m honestly not sure on what his valuation actually is. I think TOR has a very nice piece in Kerfoot, so that might be an edge. I can just see many teams wanting him and the packages would get pretty competitive.</div></div>
Dumba and a 1st feels like good value for Dvo. Some think of Dumba as an actual negative player though so depending on who you ask his value could vary. I do agree we would need to give up more than Kerfoot, probably Liljegren as well or something like that. And realistically if Arizona isnt interested in moving him, he wont move.

HUGE SPLASH
Look at all the angry Chicago fans lol. Kane is about to be 33 he has 2 years until UFA. Chicago is awful, they would be dumb not to trade him. Sandin, Robertson, and Amirov are all better than any prospect Chicago has.(Obviously Dach and Boqvist dont count they are on the team). Name contending teams that can afford to add a 10 million dollar contract, now ask yourself if that team has the prospect capital to trade for Kane. Are they in win now mode and want to trade for a 33 year old? There aren't many options. Leafs are one of 4ish teams that will be in on it.
I say A prospects knowing guys like Byram are A+ prospects.

lmao the leaf hate is real. Look the reality is Amirov, Robertson, and Sandin are all A level prospects. Liljegren is a B+ and Dermott is a solid young defenseman as well. Leafs do have valuable prospect capital and it would be in the hawks best interest to move on from Kane as they are not going to be a competitive team any time soon. Maybe other teams will have better offers, like a Byram or Kakko perhaps, but Leafs will be in those talks.

I guess we'll see. Based on CJ and Friedmans rumors it seems pretty likely. We have all the pieces in the world to get this done. Amirov, Robertson, Liljegren, Niemela Sandin, 1st round pick...Hawks are rebuilding and we could have 2 Kanes with our prospect capital.

I just think Dvorak has a much higher skill level than Hyman and can make better plays with the big boys and maybe finish off some of the opportunity's Hyman didn't have the touch for. Im open to keeping Hyman but I think Marner needs another option to pass too that can finish other than Matthews.

I was thinking prospect further away since Leafs are competitive now...may need Liljegren next year.
Have always liked Mike Koster. And Topi Niemela. Either of them and a lottery protected 2022 1st.
Amirov and later pick? Or is that too much?
I know Devils GM Tom Fitzgerland liked Amirov at draft, because they found Mukhamadullin by watching a lot of Amirov.</div></div>
If we are trading Amirov we are getting a bonafide scoring top 6 Lwer, at this point Wood is more of a grinder than a scorer. Niemela is pretty high end, probably around the same value as Liljegren both of them together would be too much for Wood. But Koster is doable.

Wood is a nice player but hes not very productive offensively and isnt worth that much. Liljegren is a high end prospect and has value. Maybe a 2nd round pick would be the most you would get as a plus with Lilly.

I feel like Saad would be a good fit with JT and Hyman...They would grind teams to the ground. Saad doesnt have great offense anymore but he can still grind, maybe theres a better fit but he was the best option I saw in UFA. Lowry gives us the 3C we need after Kerfoot goes to Seattle. Hes defensively sound and that 3rd line could bring some offensive punch. Getting Ullmark to challenge Campbell and have a healthy duo will be big for the leafs in order to save money.

The Leafs might just as good on the ice and certainly in the future if they can sign a UFA, Dman, especially a RHD for under 4m then they keep Lijjegren and the first round
It's a downgrade at centre and goal, to squeeze in this Dman whoever it might be.</div></div>
Well. When it comes to our 3rd line i think they will be much more productive come playoff time than our current 3rd line. Maybe not as much production in the regular season...But none the less they will be good on the cycle and solid defensively all year round.
As for Severson..Yes its a really big upgrade, i dont expect a lot of people to follow his game but hes a very good defensive d man on the level of a Pesce who we have coveted for a long time. Hes a perfect 1st pair PK RHD who fits our age group and is pretty cheap at 4 mil for 3 more seasons. He gets buried night in and night out with extremely tough QoC in New Jersey which has only helped his defensive development but has definitely hurt some of his advanced stat metrics.
As for the goal tending...Georgiev was better than Andersen last year albeit less games and Andersen seems to always choke when it matters most. Regardless its the easiest way for us to save money in a league where goal tending is fickle and unpredictable. Plus Andy isnt going to be re-signed next year so may as well get assets.

Toronto is pretty darn close to Michigan...Not that close to Florida though.
If he does end up in Florida that could still be very interesting for the Leafs. That could very well make Ekblad available and we could try a similar type trade (maybe excluding Zaitsev) to try and get Ekblad. I doubt the Rangers have the pieces to get Trouba as they would have to give up young players most likely...Plus the Rangers already have some good RHD. Detroit is kinda in the same boat without good assets to give and not wanting to give up futures. Flyers could definitely get a deal done if he wants to go there.

Well he plays top 4 on a damn good team...So i think that makes him a top 4 d man.
The reason Toronto is trading him is because he requested a trade.
The reason fans are on his case is because he isnt a very good passer.

I took your concerns with my Trouba trade and checked the cap on Winnipegs end. Its definitely tight and they are already pretty deep on wing so maybe its not the best fit. I was able to make their cap work by trading Perrault and Kulikov. Not saying this is the best possible thing they can do, their D obviously looks a lot weaker. But i cant see any Trouba trade making their defense better. At least in this scenario they improve a lot up front and still have a good top pair on the blueline with decent depth behind them.

There's no way TOR makes it through this offseason without losing somebody that those fans are going to lose their minds over. They won't be in a position to acquire Trouba because they simply can't afford to with the other issues they've got to solve. WPG doesn't exactly have room to be handing out cash or taking on bad contracts, which is why they're in the position to deal Trouba anyways. That trade is a no from them, unless you think they're going to turn around and not sign Laine or Connor to keep Kapanen</div></div>
Maybe you are right about Winnipeg not being able to handle all 3 of those contracts, but i figured they would probably want a top 4 RD back in the Trouba trade.
As for you doubting the Leafs ability to clear out Zaitsev and Marleau...There have been multiple reports stating that they will likely both be moved.
There are lots of different ways we can fit under the cap without losing Nylander or Marner...I just showed you one and signed UFAs and Trouba on top. You dont need to fill out roster spots, teams that are very tight on cap sometimes go with a smaller roster without having scratches take up more cap space.

Any good free agent we could sign would need term. Having to re sign Dermott and Muzzin next year will be a priority so we will need money coming off the books.
3rd pair RD and more defensive d men who can PK is a definite need. Backup goalie is also very much a position we need to improve, we could likely find a cheaper solution but i think if we have the cap space we should use it.
What other UFAs could we get that could really help us on 1 years? Im open to hearing interesting ideas.
