Hopefully Getting Meyers - Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>Ha, I think they'd be out there fighting together! And I don't think it's even about that with Bjugstad - he's very expendable production-wise, but is a huge body who can flash skill and play wing and center. Plus he's a nice hometown guy who's great in the locker room. If they still have a spot to fill before camp, he'd be an easy minimum salary contract to add back in.
Boldy-Gaudreau-Jost/Meyers does sound juicy. Jost definitely didn't look out of place in those couple games he just got with them, either.</div></div>
I have been pleasantly surprised with Jost. He just looks fast and aggressive on the ice. Would love to see how he does with Boldy on the same line. Wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t try him on the opposite wing if they trade Fiala.

Hopefully Getting Meyers - Lines
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>I hope they get Meyers, seems like a complete player who could be a steal as a college FA. IMO though Fiala, Benn, and possibly Bjugstad all won't be on the team next year. Deslauries hopefully comes back to be 12th/13th forward, then either Meyers or Jost plays on the other side of Boldy depending on chemisty in camp.</div></div>
That all sounds good to me. No chance Benn is back and I’d agree Bjugstad has played himself into a larger role and bigger payday and it would be hard to bring back. But I do like that Boldy, Meyers, Jost line. Deslauriers just gives us an edge that I like. Can maybe help keep Foligno from fighting. Maybe.

building for the future
Wild don’t have much of a need at LD so I don’t think Vladislav is a great fit for the trade also we are trying to shed cap. I mean Bemstrom, Foudy and ‘23 3rd. I think might work something along those lines. Each team can fill a need with trade though. Like the idea.

Keeping Fiala
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Cannon</b></div><div>You get marchenko with a small add or the first with a small add. Not both. No shot.</div></div>
Don’t have a great idea of value in the trade. But I do think for the right price both teams can win here. Fills a need for both teams. I hate it when you see trades here with no regard to a teams depth chart as well as the other teams cap situation.
Looking back now should have stuck with Marchenko and 2nd. But also I think that might be a tad rich, don’t know a whole lot about Marchenko. I just think he is one of the guys in the prospect pool that the Wild would be interested in. RW depth in prospect pool not great.
RHD is a place Columbus definitely has a need for. Also they have the cap space to sign Dumba to a long term extension with no Wild retention. Would like to hear what you guys think a fair trade could be.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>Only way they would is if Dumba comes with a reasonable extension, otherwise that’s too much for a 1 year rental from a non contender.</div></div>
I definitely think it would have to come with the plans of an extension. I don’t believe the Wild could sign him to an extension until a certain point next year, so that is why I left it blank. I also wasn’t sure on the value at first it was Marchenko and a second. But would like to hear what you think the trade value is. RHD is definitely a place of need for Columbus and a solid vet presence (on the right side) would benefit Ceulemans when he gets to the NHL. You don’t want to throw a young guy to the wolves, not needing to put him as the top pair right away can help. Dumba is also only 27.

For 4 million a 2nd. If it is over 4.1 million (it’s not a round 100,000 but just above it), a 1st and a 3rd.

Staying Competitive with Fiala Gone

2023 1st round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
I included an additional prospect. Thomson because the Wild would want this years 1st, but Ottawa will do everything to avoid doing this, and trade next years because of it more then likely being later in the draft.
OTT
Fiala, Kevin
Additional Details:
Fiala already has an extension in place and I think 7x7 is about right it may go up in AAV but I don’t think drastically higher.
I don't mind giving Greig, but giving him and Thomson pretty much takes any 1st round pick out of the trade, regardless of year. Greig and the 2022 1st is probably too much, but it's closer.
If I were MIN, I'd take the prospects over demanding a 1st, they are at a good spot in their developement for MIN, and an OTT 2nd is still a good pick. Too much is made out of needing a 1st in return, the OTT 2nd looks like it will be around the 36th-38th pick.</div></div>
So you think. Swapping the 1st out for this years 2nd. A few have said that it is a little rich. Would another piece from Minnesota to Ottawa help. We have a number of LD prospects I know you got a handful of guys there. What about a 3rd or so this year or a guy like Mason Shaw, Alexander Khovanov?
Do you think that would even the deal up more.

Can you explain it then? Because I thought if we get close to the cap and put Weber on LTIR. We would get his cap hit minus our distance from the cap to form the LTIR pool. If that is the case it could allow us some relief. Well that’s what they said on the 32 thoughts podcast.
How was it debunked? I’m curious because I was get hopeful that we could keep Fiala and Dumba. Because I’m no expert on LTIR.
What do you guys think of the Seattle trade? Extra depth on offense and some help on d a big bodied defenseman could help.

If I think of it maybe not Hartman, possibly Greenway just need to create slightly more cap space. Or if we could pull a Tampa and move around roughly 2 million.

Keeping Dumba and Fiala
I agree what you all are saying. If I get rid of Freddy that opens up say 600k if we bring up McBain making the cap space 2.2 and change. Say the Boldy bridge is at 2 mil and Addisons is at 2. That would add 800k and 1.1 million so we would still have 300k in space. I’m not sure if Addison get 2.7 on a bridge deal he has been up and down between the AHL and NHL a bit too much. He would still be 22 or so when he signs and that would allow him to sign a big pay day at 24-25.
I think Fiala could be convinced with a 6x6 we do have a little space, to go up. And also if Marat is ready for the NHL we wouldn’t need to sign Sturm and that could open up another 600k. Leaving more cap money for a Fiala resigning.
I also wonder where Marat plays into all this. He has been making some pretty sick plays over in the KHL. And wonder when he would be ready for the NHL.

Possible 22-23
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>futurehofer</b></div><div>No for a couple of reasons. First, NHL contracts aren't able to be modified in any way once they're signed and made official by the league (with the exception of adding trade protection to the final year of a contract before an extension that has trade protection). The way the contract is structured is how it's structured and that includes the timing of payments be it salary or bonuses. Second, other than their annual $92.5k signing bonuses, the rest are performance based. You obviously can't pay out for a performance that hasn't happened yet.</div></div>
Good to know. I wasn’t sure because I know in other leagues like in the NFL for instance they can restructure contracts that have already been signed to create more cap room. And with the Wild here having about 1.5 million tied up in bonuses I was wondering if it could be restructured anyway like the NFL.

Maybe a Solution to Cap Problems
Yea I agree the 3rd for Chychrun might be a little much. I was thinking because he has term they might want a little bit more. I know he has some knee problems, but if he is healthy know I think it could be worth the risk.
I was wondering about Roy in LA. I believe he would be less expensive in terms of money and what we would give up. He would also fill the RD shot that Dumba leaves.
What do you think of the Dallas trade? Wasn’t 100% sure but think both teams would benefit from it?

Dvorak and some Free Agents
Possibly trade Dumba. He would have a year left on the contract. That would depend on how Menell does. Also there is about just over 1.5 million in bonuses that where obtained when Rossi, Boldy and Addison made the roster so that should get close and Bjugstad is on a 1 year deal and that would take 900k off the books. So I think that could be an option honestly didn’t think that far ahead. That was a good question.

I guess Iooking back at it your right I overvalued Reinhart. I do think they would possibly have to give up at least a one draft pick. Maybe only a second to sweeten the pot because we are looking for a good center for Kap. And I think other teams would be calling for Reinhart.
What’s peoples thoughts on the Rask in the expansion draft? I think the draft picks could persuade them to take on the 4 mil. Contract for a year.
