Wow cheap signing for a guy that is coming off a good season for him.

Your signings are mostly right with a couple discrepancies, but there's no way one or two of Kulikov, Perrault, Myers, or Little don't get traded tonight or this summer to cut cap and make room for Poolman and Niku. Not bad for a dude who isn't a jets fan.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingsLover</b></div><div>I think you could sign Morrissey for less on a contract similar to that of Brett Peace, and Karl Alzner, a range of 4-4.625mil for 5-7 years. The reason is because I think that is ceiling of type of player in the lineup he can be. Ik those are all players who play different ways but I mean in the way that they're all really number 3 or 4 guys on championship contenders (at least Alzner use to be). Also I think you could get Trouba for less because he is not better than Morgan Reilly or Seth Jones who make less than that. So if you offer him what Jones got 6 years 5.4 a season I'd say that's better.</div></div>
That’s a good contract for Morrisey, he’s worth every penny of that. Trouba will get at least 6 and likely more term, he’s not going to accept a 5.4m AAV. Also I disagree and would say Morrisey can be a top pairing lhd, he played like one last year for the Jets, just doesn’t put up big offensive numbers because he isn’t used offensively when you have the firepower on D that the Jets have

That's a massive over pay for draisaitl. You already have one of the best centers in the league. Sign stastny without giving up anything and let rosovlic develop into a 2c. You still have little too

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Liverpoolnhl</b></div><div>Just a reminder that Little has NMC after July 1- so no trade and must be protected for expansion.....</div></div>
shoot, you are right. This opens up after two years but would likely be after expansion, unfortunate. Could still move him in that summer if they need the cap space I'm sure, just could potentially be harmful for them in expansion draft. Maybe he ends up sticking around for the full thing, who knows. I think that's the worst contract Chevy has signed, too much term for that price AND a clause on it.

Blueline would be morrisey trouba Buffy kulikov poolman niku morrow chiarot Stanley depending on Stanley development and top 6 forwards 5 out of 6 aren’t moving that only leaves Connor that would be possibly max value still on entry level deal and probably can’t afford next year so need to get a top ten pick out of him this year my goal would be two packages for 7 10 11 or 12 picks two of them using Connor Myers and dano petan and later picks or even chiarot and morrow but probably no help

Mason doesn’t bother me too much his money comes off the books when they need it too next summer would be nice to find proper value for little 5.2 6 years and pearrault 4.1 3years but I don’t think anybody lining up so kinda got to work around those deals at least you know the number and what u should get out of them I think Connor going to be solid contributor in this league but he did benefit from playing with scheifele and wheeler and he is probably the most valuable piece the jets have other than trouba to possibly move and I don’t like the trade off between Myers and trouba I much prefer trouba with morrisey over anything else the jets have so I came to the conclusion the two pieces I would move would be Myers and Connor with dano petan chiarot and morrow as random fillers and throw in top ups with a hope to get a couple top 12 picks or a single top 5 pick possibly so Phoenix det edm islanders phones would be ringing for sure would love to add top 6 muscle and greasy goal scorer and bottom pair dman sheriff and a little more muscle but probably don’t have the cap for either so hopefully a couple top 12 picks with minimal picks thrown in with players mentioned

Myers would be the Leafs best RHD if we made that trade. You could definitely get the 25OA for him. Even if you're afraid that TOR wouldn't want just a rental, they're in a win-now mode and if that doesn't sway you you could always offer a conditional 2019 2nd round pick if Myers doesn't sign an extension.

Trades with EDM, MTL, ARI, and VGK
Saw the title and expected to hate the Edmonton trade, ended up loving it. Might want to throw in Stanley. Samberg went and officially made him expendable with a ridiculous world juniors and freshman college season. Stanley just gives Edmonton one more reason to make that trade.
Take Petan off the Perrault trade and put him on the Kulikov trade. Perrault by himself is worth a late 1st, and 2 late 2nds is good enough value, especially if it frees up cap for the kids. Putting Petan on the Kulikov trade means you can take off the 2nd we'd be sending them and it clears up.
Don't bother moving Mason. For an extra 1.7mill we can keep that 2nd round pick, and his contract still comes off the books before Chevy actually has to start going hard in the paint with the contract negotiations in 2019.
Jets have a need for a good RHD prospect, and you can never have enough good centre prospects. With two more 2nd round picks and the 10OA, I think the strategy would be to trade up to get one of Dobson, Bouchard, or Kotkaniemi. Alternatively we can use one of those 3 2nd rounders to go ahead and give Edmonton one more reasons to make that trade.

Another Cup Run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LoganOllivier</b></div><div>Apart from the Fluery trade this is all doable, for this year. What happens next when Laine, Connor, Myers and Wheeler all need contracts for next year? Someone is going to have to be traded. Honestly the more I look at it, perhaps trading Connor or Elhers for cheaper secondary scoring may be a smart idea.</div></div>
Myers, and Perrault would be the first to go, and in this scenario you could lump Statsny and Gagner into that crowd. You don't trade your primary scorers for secondary scoring. The logic in that is completely backwards. A 3rd pairing dman who makes 5.5mill has absolutely no business being on a team for any extended period of time, regardless if he's actually a 1st or 2nd pairing RHD playing behind the incredible hulk of the nhl and the Jets' top defenseman who also happens to be 24 years old. That just means if we choose to trade Myers this year he'll get us a late 1st.

Well, Hanifin played 2nd pair minutes for starters. Who cares about the signing bonus? It's not like they were gonna cut him this offseason. Also, big money has already been paid out, 22 million over 2 years.
27 isn't exactly retirement age for a guy who just put up 61 points with the likes of benoit pouliot, scott wilson and zemgus girgensons playing on his wing. he also manages to play among the top minutes among all forwards in the nhl, win more faceoffs than any player ever, play #1 pk, #1 pp. but carry on.

Huge Trade with the Jets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ducky10</b></div><div>I think a more likely transaction between leafs and jets would involve Tyler Myers. RHD big minute guy and can QB a PP which is exactly what the leafs need as far as I understand.
Jets need cap relief so a younger player / prospect on an ELC would be ideal. Maybe jets throw in a Petan or dano and have liljegren or kapanen and a conditional pick based on Myers resigning or some package like that?</div></div>
leafs don't need help on the PP so Myers doesn't help the Leafs in that regard. let's be factual jets fans (and I'm one) myers isn't going to get get a great return for a one year rental. although myers is OK to good, so many jets trades have all this cap leaving and none returning which is in a cap structured league doesn't happen in a great amount of trades

I would think its in our better interests split that trade into two with a pair of teams to get two late firsts or early seconds. This is a draft with a ton of boom or bust picks and I think getting two in the 20-40 range would give our scouts the best opportunity to show off why we're the best drafting team in the NHL.

Tavares plus a few
Signing Hanifin essentially gives us the 'Myers quandary.' We have 3 very good defenseman down our left side, and all three will demand large to moderate cap hits for years to come. It's more economic to just have Morrissey lock down that top pairing, let Niku show everyone why he's the best AHL defensive prospect in the league, and let Kulikov or a cheaper UFA play out the next couple years until Stanley, or much likelier, Samberg develops.
When you think about building a defense, I think Nashville has given the league the blueprint. You go all out on your top 4, and let your 3rd pairing be cheap, expendable, and passable, for 15-18 minutes of regulation a night against other teams' 3rd and 4th lines.
And we can't be trading Ehlers. Ehlers is quite likely a perennial point-a-game player for years to come if he can play with a good center that can keep up with his speed (Roslovic). He leads our team in zone exits and entrances and putting him on a line greatly reduces any chance of that line making a neutral zone turnover.
I'd argue after Scheifele he was the most important forward at even strength on our team.
