His value has decreased since you paid a cap dump quality 3rd liner + a 4th. Noone with brains would take him for any reason but getting to the cap floor.</i></div></div>

Sorry, I think your way off base with that one. I think you need to go look at some stats my friend. Nothing of what you said, can be backed up with any statistical evidence other than he's old and he's aging. Something a birth certificate could tell us. Or frankly the bio of a NHL.com page for him. Anyways "fart dispenser" can you back your claim with any real verbiage?</i></div></div> Are you stupid? Everything I said was factual. You paid Umberger + 4th for Hartnell. Umberger had less than .5 ppg at 4.6M. Thats a turd in terms of value. Noone is paying 4m+ to a 30+ year old player who scores less than half a point per game. Hartnell's season this year is less than what he did his last year in Philly. These are facts. He's also 2 years older now and his contract goes on for multiple years. Noone is going to rescue you from Hartnells dog crap contract. You need to come to terms that you traded a cap dump for a better player who will be a cap dump by the end of his contract. Had anyone offered a 3rd with no cap going to Philly they would have gotten him 2 years ago. Your team was the highest bidder. You are stuck with him unless you pay someone to take him.</i></div></div>

Oh BruinsForTheWin, you really shouldn't have. :cool

Let me start by saying I'm not a CLB fan. I'm simply stating that your under valueing Hartnell. He isn't a superstar, he isn't going score 50g but using your methodology as basis for your comment is the only thing on this comment section that is dumb.

Hartnell has steadily outproduced (in goals) so many players since his arrival in CLB its not even funny. More than Johansen, Landeskog, Jagr, Ericksson, Kesler, Ryan, Sedin etc etc. Not too mention at a similar cap hit or cheaper than those mentioned. He's one of the few power forwards remaining in the league and his strength in front of the net is something teams are still looking to add. His pt totals since coming to CLB is also higher than any player on Bostons team save for there two best players in Bergeron and Krejci.

If age is your scare tactic, players in there mid 30's have steadily proven they can still produce at that age. See below table:

<a href="http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&amp;match=single&amp;year_min=2013&amp;year_max=2016&amp;season_start=1&amp;season_end=-1&amp;rookie=N&amp;age_min=34&amp;age_max=51&amp;pos=F&amp;is_playoffs=N&amp;c1stat=points&amp;c1comp=gt&amp;c1val=40&amp;threshhold=5&amp;order_by=points" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">http://www.hockey-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&amp;match=single&amp;year_min=2013&amp;year_max=2016&amp;season_start=1&amp;season_end=-1&amp;rookie=N&amp;age_min=34&amp;age_max=51&amp;pos=F&amp;is_playoffs=N&amp;c1stat=points&amp;c1comp=gt&amp;c1val=40&amp;threshhold=5&amp;order_by=points</a>

Now for your reference that because they got him for Umberger, he's somehow only worth the same as Umberger is now. Any knowledgable hockey fan will tell you that Philly got fleeced in that trade. let's take a look at both players stats since that trade:

Hartnell - 109 pts in 156 gp.
Umberger - 36 pts in 106 gp.

Do you see equal production there? I don't. Also let's take into account that Philly got the 4th pick on that trade which turned into........drumroll please......Austin Wagner. A prospect who by many accounts probably will never make the NHL aside from a few NHL stints at best.

Intangibles? The only reason Hartnell is being mentioned in trade is because CLB is tight up to the cap and moving Hartnell is easiest bet to cut salary while getting a decent return. They don't need to throw in a Teravainen in order to liberate his contract like Chicago just did. there are suitors as long as Hartnell accepts the team he's being traded to. Umberger is buyout material this year. Hartnell isn't even being mentioned in that same sentiment. What else can i add here?......Oh now we can go ahead and see the going rate for players of similar situation for similar cap hits and see how they compare:

<a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/active/2016/points/all/forwards">https://www.capfriendly.com/browse/active/2016/points/all/forwards</a>

The only guy who is paid similar to Hartnell and put up more points than he did is Soderberg with a whopping 2 pts more.......I checked last year just for fun and Hartnell was the highest scoring player in that price range.

I don't what else i can throw at you here because frankly if your still debating me at this point, let's just agree to just disagree because your just wasting my time.
